Stupid people aren't capable of working out for themselves what's right or wrong, they'll rely on people they trust who will often lie to them.

I mean, there are people on here who will swear blind that Trump has never lied. Some think that properly funding the IRS will affect them, when the extra is going towards auditing millionaires who owe tens of billions in unpaid taxes. They think that Democrats are coming for their guns, when the reality is that even the 1994 assault weapons ban didn't take a single gun from anyone. They'll knowingly or unknowingly propagate lies, just to "own the libs". They think that global warming is a hoax when the mechanism has been known for over a century and the fossil fuel companies acted just like the tobacco companies decades earlier. They think that Russia had nothing to do with the 2016 election.

Smart people understand that democracy is the best protection against dictatorships, and smart people will vote against people who try to undermine it. They understand that compromise is necessary.

Yes, it would be a better place if everybody could spot a wannabe dictator before they come to power.
