I had my old house up for sale and had it being sold by a local realtor. She brought around a couple of people initially but I thought she did a crappy job selling the house. The next person she brought in I decided I would try to sell it myself. I showed the prospective buyer all the work and upgrades I did in the house. Afterwards the realtor told me not to do that anymore. After that there was zero interest in the house. After a few weeks go by my wife calls the real estate office anonymously and asks about our house. She was told it was sold already. Thar was news to us. It turns out the plan was to sell it to the girl that worked in the office. She had just got married and our house was a good starter home. They gave me a lowball number and the realtor said it was a good offer. I told her that I knew that they were working with the buyer which if the real estate board found out she could lose her license. I got the buyer to give us the full asking price and made it so the realtor did not get a commission. She was a real crook.

Well very few people understand the whole financial aspect of purchasing a home. So unless you're paying for a home in full, using an agent would be valuable.

SOME Realtors are like used car sales people & if truth be told some of them just want to weasel you. On the flip side some realtors actually care & do a wonderful job.
My realtor was award winning & she wasn’t pushy & she took her time & told me like it was & if she didn’t like the house or it wasn’t the right fit for me she told me.
Experience is a wonderful thing.
