I believe that the chronic pitfall that increasingly looks potentially terminal is that popularity, trendiness and fear of being ostracized is influencing our direction, viability and sustainability, which is another way of saying, 'If you're under age of 40, you're basically screwed'. 'If you're under the age of 30, prepare for decades of ongoing government sponsored misery and oppression. That word is increasingly being bandied about somewhat capriciously, but the next generation may find it much more appropriate for what's ahead, rather than what's passed or currently taking place. 'Change' is a very popular term -- until it rises up and smacks you in the, mouth. Tread lightly.

If I'm not mistaken it seems like every 10 years or so there always seems to be a fad of radical beliefs where for a period of time there were jehovahs witnesses then when that started fizzling out the next thing that was growing seemed to be scientology

I wouldn't think so. What makes you think that? There are certainly cults within society but, as a whole I don't see any reason why it would be.

Most People believe in the governments truth and believe what the governments tell them to do. They also follow the structure of the government; taxes, bank loans, buying a house, 9-5 job, and so on..

true but that is neither a person or thing. at best a government is an idea. a concept. a cult can be more closely assigned to every religion as they believe in not only a thing but a "person" and some of them can be incredibly devoted to the point of violence. people are not violent for their government. people are violent as a result of the failings of their government. a small but important distinction. you look at the majority of wars that have been perpetuated in say the last 100 years and in most cases it is because of a failure of government the war started meaning people had to get violent to protect themselves and their family. in the cases of aggressors they were violent in some cases because of devotion to a singular person which could qualify it as a cult (nazi germany looking at you). What I would say about society is this. society is a concept that only exists as long as it is mutually beneficial for people to keep it going. in the event of a world ending event, world altering event. alien invasion, zombie apocalypse, hell even a viral outbreak society almost immediately collapses and people begin hoarding, looting, rioting, etc because society is no longer a mutually beneficial concept. only 2 possible outcomes to a world altering event, extinction level event, world ending event. 1 people ditch society and follow their most basic animalistic urges or 2 people put aside their differences and pool resources and come together under 1 banner to ensure the future of humanity.
