Do you consider the 1600s to be a bad century? Or a good one?

Although my country had a Golden Age.

Native Americans invaded, betrayed, taken advantage of, and later decimated. Black Africans shipped over to the New World against their will. Women mistreated and randomly accused of witchcraft. The big bad Puritans. English Civil War.

In my opinion, the 1800s were better. The century of redemption.

As far as I am concerned, anytime before the late 1800's was absolute shit. The scientific method , modern pain killers, antibiotics, vaccines , modern standards of hygiene, flush toilets , etc. all of this began it's application sometime in the late 1800's ( yes, I know that some of this stuff came about in the 18th century but science initially took it's sweet time in spreading around the world and becoming standard.

Just imagine being sick 200 years ago... no vaccines , no antibiotics, no painkillers, no knowledge of germs or how they spread. I recall having tooth aches over 25 years ago that led to gum inflation and some unbearable pain. The only thing that brough me relief was a treatment of antibiotics ( the name eludes me so many years later). This was in the 90's. Now imagine if it were the 1790's - the invention of antibiotics and modern painkillers over 100 years away and no modern dentistry.

How many people back in the day would have put a musket to their heads to end the misery?

about native American firstly they were NOMADS so no city nor home besides their trailer parks. movable tents.

secondly recall the famous war called "french and indian" those who made treaties have reservations reserved for them those "decimated" were actualy fighting wars... and proof survives reservations preserved this fact.

we must not accuse anything we did not experienced.

but i can still agree those europeans who came to america some did bad stuff, the rest were just trying to get religious freedom so 1600 more benefit than bad.

Well sort of. The claims to the Antarctic aren't recognized because there has never been any ongoing indigenous population.

I hope you don't mind me finding it funny that the English had a revolution against tyranny 1639 -1651 and again in 1688 well before you guys. The puritans were writing back home "Of course we fully support you but we are a bit busy at this moment".

I think good though it would not have been at the time. Good in that the English Revolution rejected absolute monarchy. Bad in a lot of people died over it. Bad in that absolute monarchs came back. Good in that the Dutch arrived in 1688 to kick a new absolutist monarch out and become a constitutional monarchs instead.

1600s was a Golden Age for Mughal Empire in India. So, pretty much yeah it was a good century. We had about 1/4th GDP of the world and Empire was in better control. Taj Mahal and King's Mosque of Lahore (largest for 4 centuries and other marvelous architectures were built around that time.
