No. I'd say around 1980s.
I still used a slide rule in 1980.
19th century is not ancient, but it's not modern either.
19th century is a turning point with industrial age though.
You had things such as train for transportation, telegraph for communication, which humans didn't have before 19th century.
Yes, the industrial age was a turning point. But "modern" is constantly changing. Every period in history was modern at one time. The world we live in today was almost inconceivable when I was young. The world fifty years in the future might be inconceivable to use now.
A major defining characteristic of the modern world might be the Internet and smart phones. In that case the beginning of the modern world was more like early 2000s. The Web was around in the mid 90s, but there was almost nothing there until the 2000s.
You can go the other direction in time also. To an anthropologist, "modern humans" began around 300K years ago. Before that, homo erectus first used fire. To this day no other animals have reached that point.
are you talking about the years starting with 19? which is 20th century or actual 19th century which are the yeats starting with 18? ?
19th century means 1800s
i know but wasn't sure if you meant then as 1800s was more horse and buggy/no electrononics and mediocre at best medicine where as 20th century had motorized travel and electronics as well as much better tech in medical ways.
which i view "modern" more through the lens of technology. so in answer to your original question, i would say no, around early 1900s (1905 to 1925-ish) would be the start of the modern era.
Industrial Age
So you dont think 19th century is the turning point with industrial age?
You had things such as train for transportation, telegraph for communication, which humans didn't have before 19th century.
What do you mean by motorized travel?
Trains and Steam Power Ships are not considered motorized travel?
By the late 19th century, there were even electric trains.
yes they existed but were more of an emite thing and more reffering to intetnal comustion engines, electric motors count too. i almost included the 1880s and up because of the gew items but by and large the tech didn't get a good start till after 1900.
19yh century was an amazing century with industrial revelotion. It wasn't a century like before.
