ALL vehicle operators... SHOULD BE RE-TESTED for competency and safety as their age progresses.
Physical prowess inevitably degrades to SOME degree. Your 'piloting' a ton of metal projectile in populated areas. It is NOT just a means to an end. Driving is BOTH an earned right and a privileged public trust!

This is not easily answered. Sometimes it's by necessity. Not everyone lives in an urban environment with mass transit. And uber isn't always and option especially with some people being on a fixed income.

My mother is 80 and still drives. She's never been an aggressive driver and being timid can be as dangerous as being overly aggressive. A license is "freedom" to my mother. As long as she's breathing she'll never want to gi e up her license.

My grandmother was about 94 when we made her stop driving. My other grandmother didn't even learn to drive `til she was about 60 and drove most of the last 30 years of her life.

My neighbour by the way is 87 and drives great , but he has the physical abilities , she does not.

How would we know? It's not like young people never get their cars stuck. If she can pass the tests, she's probably fine.

Normally they are allowed to drive up to age of 70, any years after that they need to re-take the test.
