Why does America encourage fast and dangerous driving?

Just been thinking lately how different it is over there when it comes to driving, I've recently been and yeah driving over there is like a free for all and now my Insta decides to give me so much feed of bad driving in America as clips for some reason.

I mean I sorta get why so fast because going 30Mph on a American road is getting you nowhere because of how big it is, but surely there is a better way right?

My Step mom from there she never drove the speed-limit and never does and never gets punished for it. And seemingly no one else does as cars still overtook her and etc and when I mean over the limit I mean by quite a bit. She drives 100mph on those roads.

Also we drove past many cop cars who did nothing, is there any point to those cops been there?

Traffic laws are enforced locally and by states who technically own the roads. Some state and local governments enforce them far more diligently than other. This really is a bit of a political issue for local governments and even states where the local goverment goes too far and setups speed traps to effectively tax pass thou traffic.(Which is why having an out of state license is not ideal)

So yes most people do in fact speed, most of them get away with it in most area but not every area. Locals can usually tell you which ones.

In general the distances and design of the roads tend to be big factors in speeding we spend a lot of time in the car getting from place to place.

in most areas tend to object to really effective enforcement technique like traffic cameras, are not used nearly as much as they could be to effectively shutdown speeding among other car abuses. Because it would be unpopular

Well, cops over here have been pussyfied the past few years. They're not ALLOWED to do their job, anymore!!
Secondly, 55 mph is NOT all that fast! If that bint's going 100, she COULD get into a lot of trouble or kill someone! Possibly herself! The dangerous part over here is when drivers are too busy playing with their little toy phones to keep their mind on driving!!
Thirdly, have you ever heard of the Autobahn? That's near your neck of the woods! You can go as fast as you want, there!

We have Camera's that insta fine people if they are speeding on many roads, which apparently America don't have since I've not seen her get a single one and we drove from Illinois all the way to Colorado.
55Mph is super fast man compared to 30. Then your motorway ones are 85 not 70. So it's just all pumped up by 15mph which is a lot.

I saw a meme saying "How it feels when you decide to drive the speed limit for once." and myself has personally felt that when she did one time. It feels so slow but it's even slower in England yet feels fast here.

We've had those cameras at least as far back as the early `90's. There's an episode of, "Columbo" that featured Dabney Coleman that was partly based on one of those cameras.
Well, up until the late 70's, our normal speed limit was at least 65 and, in some areas, 75 and 80. They lowered it to 55 back then to try to save on gas when we had that bogus gas shortage.
I don't know of any modern roads that allow anything higher than 65.

Interesting then why does she never get fined nor seemingly other people who were legit overtaking her while she doing 100.
She also multiple times gone without car insurance and them never finding out lol. She's not the best at responsibility.

Ah 85 is a texas road which.. of course lol. But yeah most places seem to be 70 looking it up but I don't know no one sticks to them.

Maybe those areas didn't have those cameras. They're not everywhere, just in certain areas.
I've driven hundreds of mile in one trip a number of times without insurance or a license! They'll only find out if I do something wrong and they stop me about it. But, it was much safer having me drive than to have others in my band that were drunk and high driving us back home at 4:00 a. m.!!

Pretty sure they should have from Illinois all the way to Colorado and Chicago and etc places we went to seems impossible not to. The only time she got stopped for not having insurance ironically was right outside of her house, can drive to multiple states but not your home one night lol.

Yeah that's weird as hell because it's not a thing here, here ya just get caught we have much more surveillance which works.

But clearly you do though. And yeah that's cause the camera's don't stop freedom exactly my point so thank you for backing it up we can still drink and all that because they don't impact freedom. Though they do affect drunk drivers of course. And rightfully so or do you support drunk driving and idiots on the road?

Driving slower than the flow of traffic is actually very dangerous and if you can’t get up to speed with others then just stay off the road. At least, stay out of the way and DO NOT pull out in front of others or hog the passing lane.

It's not driving slower if people stuck to the limits, and the amount of such crashes and accidents I've seen happen are due to slow reaction times not because they are drunk but because of how fast their base speed already was.

It's very different here, to crash here it's going to be 100% someone's fault but over there it just seems speeding is the issue which is everyone's if they are all doing it.

Sticking to limits also includes those going under the limit. If the limit 45, you go 45, NOT 40.

In my city, so many accidents are caused by elderly and tourists who seem to believe it’s cool to cruise under the speed limit and it’s not.

Well then you also have the problem of people driving too slow. Which is yeah illegal here. People have to stick to just under or just above but anything that's consider to much typically after that 5mph difference we get fined for right away by many camera's we have set up.

I get the temptation and it's fun but seeing some really dumb accidents that could of been solved just makes me smh. There is nothing like super speeds though I know the difference now.
