Worse, far far worse.
Degenerative behavior is at an all time high. Standards, manners, decent behavior is almost none existent in some areas. Even something as simple as holding open a door for someone who is in their 80s and walking with a cane is becoming a rarity.
Criminals and criminal activity is NOT being discouraged, rather being encouraged by lax laws or even mandates (California just passed a something that I believe essentially allows low-level shoplifting) passed that invite criminals to do just that, be criminals.
Even emergency services face hassle by today's society of increasing losers.
It isn't uncommon, after all, for emergency serives - not talking police but paramedics, doctors, nurses, firefighters - in outdoors such as shootings or car accidents to be harassed even attacked by others. There have been many incidents where other people videorecord & get in the way during emergencies increasing potential risks to victims.
.
Even advancements are not benefical. Yes medical advancements are good.
But beyond that, most advancements are dumbing down the human population. I mean most people nowadays in America can't write properly with slang, text talk & horrific grammer. And god forbid you ask people 40/35 & below to do math without calculator.
.
AI is going to replace many if not all low-skill menial jobs within the next 10 to 20 years.
In some places robotic cleaners and servers are becoming a norm. Now imagine every resturant and every factory, warehouse, large business has these robotics.
What is going to become of the humans that once filled these positions?
If these people can not pursue another job or more education then they are going to turn to welfare which is a fixed income and many people do turn to crime as a means of getting more money. So you'll potentially see a massive increase in petty crimes.
.
And AI will eventually encroach into higher level jobs.
Marketing, content writers, graphic designers, etc are already feeling the pinch with AI programs like ChatGPT & Scribly and Midjourney & many others.
Worse. Everyone is angry. People are rude everywhere (especially in the service industry). No one wants to work (they think they're entitled to be late to work, they do minimal work and can't be criticized or they will quit, claim harassment or hostile work environment.) The turnover rate is ridiculous.
We are decriminalizing criminals by letting them out early and expunging their criminal history, while criminalizing others because they still have conservative or religious values.
We've villainized police so much that they can't do their job and then we criticize them because they're short handed and no one wants to accept the job. Untrained civilian observers think they know everything, while they instigate, interfere and video tape.
No one knows how to drive or were never taught how to drive properly. They no longer have time to stop at read lights, stop at red on right turns, turn into the proper lane, drive at a reasonable speed, pass on the left etc. Everyone thinks where they're going is more important and then flip you off when they're in the wrong.
Journalists no longer report the news, they report their opinion and always have ulterior political motivation for what they tell you or how they skew headlines.
Don't forget about the fuckos who stormed the Capitol and beat cops over the head with MAGA flagpoles because they are in a fat crybaby clown cult.
Right now? Worse. I think when Trump was president he was rapidly making it a better place to live. Trump was the first president in a half a century not to get America into any new wars and created an unprecedented period of peace in the world including a breakthrough peace treaty in the Middle East that every president before him tried to get but failed. There was no inflation, the border was secure and the economy was booming. The guy in the White House now brought us record breaking price increases, a border situation so serious that we may be on the verge of a catastrophic terrorist attack from within our own country at any time and got us into two wars and on the brink of a world war.
Trump is a clown and you are a troll.
@supercutebutt trump is a dog
Very intelligent comments. Just what would be expected from the left since they can't make a case based on the facts.
@RingOfFire Sure thing, cultist. If you are on Trump's side, you are on Putin's side. If you are on Putin's side, you are on North Korea's side and also on the side of Hamas. Follow the clown and it leads directly to evil. You are on the side of evil and I am on the side of the USA. :)
@Kingofkings1992 She did. This is my fetal ghost. Jesus lets me haunt message boards so I can tease the doofish community. 👻
The world is a fucking write-off.
The capitalist cunts of the baby boomer generation ruined everything for everyone else, and it will take many more decades for things to even begin to swing back... Meanwhile anyone born since 1980 is pretty much fucked in the wallet for life, forced to exist in debt-slavery and live a rented existence in continually deteriorating conditions.
Everything is being done for profit margins now. Nothing else is even considered. Every human life is only as much net profit as they could potentially make in service to the new god they call the Economy.
It could be fixed, but it won't be, because that wouldn't be profitable.

It's getting much, much better for some. The advancements in technology has improved so many lives- cochlear implants allow deaf people to hear, for example. Mental health awareness has encouraged visits with therapists while growing the knowledge around mental disorders. And every day new changes are put in place for discriminated groups to be more equal.
But at the same time? War, inflation, terrorism, violence, etc are still happening, and the technology advanvements creates its own problems like doxxing
Anyone who says it's worse hasn't read history books well enough. History was AWFUL. No time in history has been easier or better than the past 15 years. That being said, the internet and mass media make things look worse because fear sells. The world still has problems, but nothing like before. Violence, starvation, genocides, large scale wars, and deaths from deadly diseases are all decreasing.
@MyOwnMan2 No matter how good things get, humans will always return to our "baseline" of feeling neutral or however we normally feel. The baseline moves up with the happiness, so it's always equally apart from the peak. Then, we require more and more each time to feel the same level of happiness. That is why it's so important to remind ourselves of how bad things could really be compared to where we are now.
I suffer from the same issue. My childhood was hell, but my life now is incredibly good. Even with that, sometimes I forget how good I have it and just lay in bed pouting. Eventually, I remember that laying in bed pouting is a privilege! As a child I did not even have a bed, many days I didn't have food or water or even a roof over my head. There was a lot of abuse as well. Even then, my mother would point out people in the news who had it worse than me. It didn't make my pain better, but it did give me perspective.
The skill of maintaining that perspective and understanding that it could be worse could go a long ways. It's not something any of us do naturally. As I said, I forget how much worse it's been in my own lifetime, so I'm sure others do as well. Expecting everyone to remember how much worse things were historically is a lot to ask. But, it could go a long ways in appreciating what we have now more.
Just 150 years ago I would have died many times over by now. It's only thanks to modern amenities and human rights that most of us are here to enjoy life. 50% of children died before the age of 5 back in the day.
You don't seem to see that dying can be a blessing.
Do you think a wolf is fundamentally more happy in the wild or in a zoo? It's safe, it's cared for, it has food, it will live two or three times longer. But is it happier? I would say no. It isn't doing what it is meant to do.
Likewise, men have been spiritually castrated and deprived of their will to be a man.
200 years ago, it was a rough world, but men were free to be men.
@MyOwnMan2 People are just as free to die now as they were then... They are more free to live now though. More options of where and how and to do it in a healthy, safe, and happy way.
A wolf in a zoo is in jail. No one is happy in jail. If the wolf were in the wild with all those options easily reached, it would be very happy.
Men have not really lost options
@MyOwnMan2 Male castration (both voluntary and involuntary) has been around for thousands of years. It's nothing new.
I don't agree with your original opinion. Things seem better because we have all this infrastructure and sure we've become medically advanced. But everything else is worse than ever. War, famine, poverty. All way worse than in the dark and middle ages.
@wolfcat87 - history wasn't that awful, maybe you should go back to school & actuall graduate
I think she's right. Just based off "facts", it's better than it was. However, humans are fundamentally irrational. What we truly want corresponds to how we evolved. We don't know that we want adventure, danger, etc. Because we don't know ourselves. We think all we want is food, drinks and health.
@PetLover24 My family is full of history buffs. Name a single period in history that you think is better, and we will happily educate you on why it was far worse. Make sure to provide facts to back your claim.
@Hungryghostwriter The black plague happened in the dark and middle ages nearly wiping out all of Europe, more than half of all children died before the age of 5, no one knew what clean was, a dentist was just a man with a blade hacking your mouth away, people starved on the streets and no one cared, medicine was thought to be putting sliced onions in a room and bleeding a person... Wars were constant and everywhere. Most children of poor people did not survive the winters due to lack of food and resources. Serfs still existed, and poor people couldn't even own land. Witch hunts and torture happened as well. You could be raped and run over in the streets by someone wealthier, and no one would care. Droit du seigneur ('right of the lord') where lords would sleep with your wife before you could was a thing as well. I could go on and on, but you think that's better than now when death and true suffering are far rarer.
@MyOwnMan2 Agreed, some humans need chaos and go out of their way to look for it and cause it even when all of their other needs are met. They do still have the option to go elsewhere for it, like the British girls who ran away to the middle east to join terrorist organizations.
@wolfcat87 All of that still happens today and it's worse because people in the west think that things are better and the rest of us should stop complaining and be grateful. Or that we are savages anyway so what more can we expect. y'all control the narrative 🤷♂️
@Hungryghostwriter It's not worse. In the past everyone was suffering. Now, most people are doing better. in one way or another. If there are populations of millions doing so much better that they can forget the ones not doing better, it means there's that many more people doing well now compared to historically... Even India has neighborhoods with houses worth more than ours. Meaning you have some people doing better than our people. People from India are taking many American jobs, and good for them! That indicates they are doing better. Even if some are suffering, many are doing better than ever before. It's a gradual process everywhere, but it is a process that has been happening for everyone. Very few people in the world have not benefited from modern inventions, modern medicine, and modern options.
I spoke with a man from Indonesia that thought a house for $10,000 was expensive. But, once we discussed the details of what his expenses are vs ours, his affordability of life was better, and he was happier. I had a friend from China who was born right after the great famine. He grew up incredibly poor. Now, he and his country are much wealthier and more modernized.
@Hungryghostwriter Not to mention the engineer from India I rented a room to with her husband and the Dr from India who asked me out on Tinder last week. People from India have options too.
Using the middle and upper classes' privilege to say that things are better completely negates what everyone else is going through. Half the world does not have clean water, basic sanitation and electricity. That is how our ancestors lived. Except our ancestors weren't bombed by foreign governments or displaced/enslaved by corporations to mine resources from their own lands.
@Hungryghostwriter If only half the world is lacking those things, then obviously the world has improved from when everyone was lacking those things. 🙃 Progress
Easy to say when you're part of the half that isn't lacking. What you call progress is just the status quo.
@Hungryghostwriter As the point goes right over your head. 🙃Have a nice day
It's hard to say. Obviously the right is undertaking a global effort to make it worse for everyone except the rich and their sycophants, and they have experienced some success, but I don't know if it's real potency or the kicks of a dying era that we're seeing.
It's becoming a better place to live, it is just that the media focuses on the bad part!..
It's to instill fear in people. People who are afraid are easy to control and more docile. It makes the job of government very easy!..
If the world was becoming a bad place, " Journalists would be the first getting bullet in the head."
The fact we are talking about Isreal and Palestine war means we are back to normal. We can do better, but the world was terrible 200 years ago. Good luck being any race, being middle class back in the old days it just didn't fare well for you back in those days.
It's definitely gotten easier to live.. The average person (especially in the West) lives like Kings.. All the food we need, resources out the wazoo.. We can get driven be a "personal" driver (Uber/Lyft) and get food delivered to us. We have personal computers in our pockets and can keep getting higher tech versions. That being said, it definitely hasn't gotten "better" people are still people.. Good, bad, and mostly selfish.. Just easier..
Elections have consequences. I used to be a democrat but now I am not. The left has gone socialist/communist and that is NOT the world I want to live in.
Depends what side you are on, as a Christian its become harder, as a proudly sinner I can only logically assume it's getting better for these individuals.
Is that even a serious question? It’s obviously getting worse. Look at the cost of groceries, the cost of housing, the cost of healthcare. It’s absolutely obscene. Look at the way humans treat each other. Look at how much division and hate exists in the world.
Worse, even in daily things like driving, I got my license later than most and haven't been driving for that long but just in the last couple years alone I've noticed the vast increase in just rude, outrageous, stupid drivers. People fighting over any differences, mental health crisis, it's just sad
Anyone who thinks it's worse need to go back in time to the days were a simple common cold was legit fatal and then tell me it's better on their gravestone.
The world is a friggin mess and I am really angry because I wanted to leave a nice free country to my kids and grandkids.
@Daffotul We did not have fentanyl ODs and there was only one kid I knew that used heroin. We did not have people sleeping in the streets. Gas was 50 cents a gallon. there was no Covid. They taught real subjects in public schools. There were two genders and boys did not play on girls sports teams. If the did they would have gotten beaten up.
In terms or living, better. Even our population size reflects that. Things live less when the conditions are harsher.
It's definitely worse. Don't wanna go on a rant but keeping it short if the world isn't burning outside for someone it's burning inside him.
oh it's sooo bad. i keep hoping it'll change and it can't be like this forever. but... it's starting to become less and less realistic.
We peaked in the late 90’s/turn of the century. Ever since 9/11 the US has been deteriorating at an ever increasing rate. Covid and it’s response made that deterioration a global affair.
generally speaking... we're doing so much better than we ever did
being specific... there's been worse times, for sure, lol
I think it's becoming the worst ever in my lifetime. The dollar is dwindled down to very little buying power. Our government the selling off are jobs to foreign countries especially China. The government lies about things.
Depends on where you live and how much and how stable your income and society are.
Because people are getting dumber, it can only get worse..
