Trending & News It’s not about merely picking a side.
You don’t want to jump on the bandwagon of either side without doing your homework first.
It’s a complex issue with a lot going on and it’s one of those things where there more you learn about the situation, the more opinionated you become about the situation.
What’s important is knowing why you support a particular side.
Having a well-formulated opinion, based on logic, reason, and data, is important.
If someone does not pick a side or group to support, it means they haven’t done enough research to have a strong opinion yet, or they are indifferent about the situation, or they just don’t want to get involved and prefer to cling onto neutrality.
If someone hasn’t chosen a side to support, it has more to do with their philosophy and priorities than it does their intelligence.
In contrast, what would actually show a lack of intelligence would be choosing a side prematurely without understanding the situation and without being able to articulate why they support the side they’ve chosen to support.
It’s doesn’t have to be choosing A or B. One can choose C. But, they would need to explain why C to show intellectual integrity rather than intellectual laziness.
It doesn’t even have to be choosing A or B.*
50/50 collateral damage is bad but understandable in war. 100/1 collateral damage is just ridiculous (100 unarmed civilians killed by the IDF for every 1 Hamas militant.) that’s not even trying anymore. That’s just blatant disregard for discernment. It’s not a war on against terrorists, it’s a mass extermination of the Palestinian people. With a 100 to 1 ratio, killing 30k Hamas fighters would require 3 Million innocent civilians killed. No matter how you cut it, the IDF’s ‘methods’ are highly controversial.
Here’s a citation: amp.theguardian.com/.../israeli-airstrikes-on-gaza-have-killed-dozens-of-hamas-commanders-says-idf (IDF claiming to have killed dozens of Hamas. But at what cost? Over 10,000+ non-combatants were killed in the process.)
Here are things explained in a video: youtube.com/shorts/ZyAGQ2bdxiU?si=oOmVrFt-6RvJdnWZ
