Did Butters deserve to be put in jail?

In last years st. patricks day episode of SP, butters thinks one of the girls at school, wasn't wearing green, so, he's supposed to pinch her, right? But, she was, in fact, wearing green socks, he just didn't know because they were of course, hidden.

So, they put him in jail for "assault of a minor", even though they're both minors themselves.

He never saw she had green socks, because she had them hidden. How is being put in jail, justifiable?

look man, it's SP. Some things are just so random in that show that some unjustified things are justified and justified things are unjustified. poor butters though he's just a baby 😭
