Because the Left has lost its mind. Here in the US, they've all but completely abandoned liberalism in favor of calling for MORE discrimination on the basis of sex and race, destroying due process to combat crime waves that don't exist, and denying (not questioning, but outright decrying) established scientific realities in the name of ideology.

The labeling of everyone who disagrees with them as "far right" is obviously going to skew perception (despite Republican scaremongering, the American media is not particularly liberal, but it's VERY Democrat-aligned), but it's also going to make moderates wonder just how bad the far right actually IS if they keep getting lumped in with it for saying things like "the response to Covid was excessive".

The media (social and otherwise) depictions play a huge role, too- in 1980, 90% of American media was owned by fifty companies, and many people were worried about the damage that level of concentration could do. Today, that same 90% is owned by FIVE companies. With that kind of power...

Bullshit left wing wokism. Basically the left wing ignores the will of the people and calls anyone who dares disagree far right. We see that in Ireland, probably the most left wing country in the world, the people say they are against 1 million new immigrants being brought into a country of 5 million and they are branded nazis and guilty of hate speech

Truth is far right isn't on the rise, the left has swung so left that everyone else is in what used to be the centre.

The world has always swung back and forth politically. When things get tough people look to extremists on the other side regardless if that's left or right but it rarely turns out well.

In Europe it's largely been driven by fear of immigrants coming from Africa and the middle east and countries failure to deal with them. The problem is migrants will still come regardless of who's in power.
