Do you prefer Carpets or Wood Floors in your house?

My downstairs is hard floors and upstairs is carpet. It's okay but I do wish the living and playroom were carpet

Both. I have wood floors in our kitchen. I have carpet for hallways. I have tile in our foyer, and carpet in the bedrooms and living room with a stone hearth for the fireplace. Dining room has wood flooring and the larger dining room I am finishing up is wood floored as well. Have to finish putting the ceiling on it and then do interior. Second floor and the tear down of the roof for the rest of the house is next. Wife wants a second story for the whole house.

Area rugs, and wood floors! We had carpet in two bathrooms in our first house. Good grief that's asking for trouble (all it took was one toilet back up, and that carpet was gone and tile was put in.)

Wood. The underlayer of padding for carpets gets filthy from trapping stuff in there that even deep steam cleaning doesn't get out. Every time I rip it out of a house it's practically a hazmat suit situation.

I have both. I like the look of a hard wood floor but carpet is good in the bedrooms.

I kinda like carpet, I live up north and appreciate that carpet is warmer to walk on

I’ve actually walked on them before and you can wake other people up in the middle of the night when you’re going to the bathroom it’s embarrassing

That floor wasn't laid right. I put in my mom's floor over 25 years ago and it hasn't' squeaked once. You have to have expansion joints around the perimeter of the floor so it can expand in the humidity of summer, and the subfloor should be double stacked on joists wider than 16" so it's firm enough to stand up.
