I am curious about whether it is a gender thing or not π.

I choose the vinyl for the high water areas to keep the subfloor well-protected and add cushion in the kitchen, since tile is hard on the back and knees long-term. I chose the wood composite laminate flooring because it's more affordable and less maintenance than hardwood, and because it is much better for the environment that the luxury vinyl plank flooring. I want to replace the bedroom carpets with a better quality wall-to-wall, but that'll have to wait.
If I could do whatever I wanted, I'd go with hardwood floors throughout, heated tile floors in the bathrooms, and natural fiber carpets in the bedrooms. I'm not sure what I'd do in the kitchen though, because I wouldn't want either hardwood or tile.
How 'bout you? :)
Carpet and hardwood. I HATE. HATE. HaTe vinyl "wood" flooring. I'm in the process of having all the vinyl ripped out of the home I own. It's such a pain to keep clean and does not last. It's been like 5 years of the flooring being down give or take and so many areas are damaged.
Yep, it's expensive but it will last forever!
Well it gets cold and snows here so I like carpet plus vacuuming is one of my quiet time things that I like to do like mowing the lawn too same thing
I do look like wooden floors
I painted a kitchen floor not too long ago it's 3D and looks like an ocean it turned out really really good
Yeah it's already finished but I can't find the finished pictures I don't know what happens but I think my pictures going to the cloud and I can't ever find them again or maybe once every 5 months all of a sudden pictures will start popping up that I lost but yeah it's beautiful I got all kinds of stuff I've done like that
I think carpet has disappeared since twenty years or more? Vinyl gets all the likes here. It's so popular that I don't even remember last time I saw carpet in a flat.
I don't care much about floor, but carpet is truly annoying since it's impossible to clean that surface in a handy way...
I don't see much hardwood here either, it's seen in bourgeois type of flats but I don't visit these flats often because I don't really match well with people living in such apartments oops.
However, it might be related to the sociological specifics of my surroundings though, I don't say it is universal

mine is all hard floors and cold AF
I bet you walk barefoot around the house...
what about winters?
Billie Jean is the best...
I don't have a house of my own yet but my apartment has carpet.
My boyfriend's house is hardwood and so is my girlfriend's house. I love the hardwood flooring.
Yeah it definitely feels better on bare feet during the cold for sure
Hardwood, itβs easier to clean if you spill anything and looks better In my opinion, but it literally feels like walking on ice in the winter.
We have mostly polished hardwood. I love it.
Carpet for me. If I was in the market for a house or apartment, anything other than carpet would be an immediate deal breaker. My own house has hardwood floors, but they are covered with carpet. Same with most other houses in this area. Most houses in my area have solid oak floors - covered with carpet.
Carpet is warm and soft. None of the other floorings are.
Our house has a combination of natural stone (marble, travertine & limestone) mostly in common (high foot traffic) main floor areas and bathrooms while the upper floors have a combination of hardwood and carpeted floors.
Having been involved with New homes and land most of my adult like , floor coverings go with climate , you sure would not want carpet here ! Thats for sure..
In an ideal world 600mil porcelain tiles , in combination with a floating floor , but in an Australia ( Victoria ) winter , that would be cold , here in Thailand its all Tiles , no need for carpet at all.
We have underfloor heating throughout the house, so except for the hallway (parquet flooring) kitchen/utility and all the en suite bathrooms, all the remaining rooms are fully carpeted.
I like carpet.
My wife had fake hardwood flooring installed throughout our house a few years ago without consulting me.
I hate it for many valid reasons.
Clean. Actually, I like carpet , but area rugs over LVP ("luxury" vinyl plank) is becoming the more popular options in many homes. "Flips" are showing with cheap vinyl planks, and many not even being laid very well. We had LVP laid in our TV room/adjoining kitchen, and use an area rug in front of the "seating-L" in the TV room. Yes, the TV can be seen from the kitchen- long gone is the 1970's divider between the two rooms.
I prefer carpet or mixed.. Hardwood floors look great and are easier to maintain, but the comfort of those carpet floors can't be beat for me...
Exactly, I want my floors as soft as my wife's a- to be Continued...
I have marble tiles everywhere with exception of baths which have less slippery matte ceramic tiles. Tiles have a lot of advantage in cleaning, scratching resistance and look luxuriously but are slippery and don't isolate temperatures. It's natural air conditioning in summer but in winter it feels cold without floor heating.
varnished hardwood. i do like carpet in the bedroom but i'll just have one under the bed so your feed don't touch cold floor int he morning. not the entire room carpet thing.
Wood floor throughout the house. Except bathroom are tiles.
the bedrooms are carpet, bathrooms and laundry room are a vinyl that is grouted in the joints, the garage is a poly coated, and the rest is hardwood
@Staximus it is vinyl tile.
Looks like stone but is more comfy to walk on and clean up.
You can also butt it together.
Once you see it you will know why it is made that way and how it looks.
It has been around for a number of years.
I have what looks like wood flooring in the lake house, but it is a vinyl type product, and we did that with grouted joints.
It looks awesome.
Entry, kitchen and baths tiles, living rooms hard wood, bedrooms hardwood and a few rugs.
I had a lot of my house done over with hardwood. They are beautiful and easy to take care of.
Hardwood, varnished with a rug is nice. Otherwise, tiles.
I have hard wood flooring but I live in New York and as you know it gets pretty cold here so I have an heating element installed in my floors so they are so warn and toasty in the winter I love it.
Tiles are too cold and can break, hard wood can dent or get scratches, carpet accumulates dusts while vinyl just feels pretty balanced and it's cheap.
We like Marble in our homes. A home with carpet or wooden vinyl flooring is considered cheap.
Pakistani marble is one of the best if not the best and also good cost.
Carpets made of good natural material is considered the go to place.
Wood floors. Not as cold as tile and way easier to keep clean than carpet, but way too noisy
Depends on the room. Carpet for the bedroom.
I absolutely love the look of hardwood floors
We have LVP (vinyl) throughout... all rooms.
wooden, with floor heating :D
I new you would agree... and cats love it :D
knew*
Tile. Carpet is disgusting.
Or just tile.
Hardwood i like it better. Cooler In the summer. Easier to clean.
Hardwood floors and maybe a throw rug for the bedroom so I donβt get cold feet first thing in the morning 😊
I have tile in the bathroom, carpet in the bedrooms and oak flooring in the rest of the house
I could never afford either of those, I can't even afford a roof over my head
I don't like carpet, it gets dirty
Depends on the room
Carpets
combination of the two
Tile floors
Carpet.
Hardwood
Hardwood
Literal grass
