Do you think it is confusing for people when people claim more than one race?

What do we need to be categorized for in the first place? It’s fine to know your heritage, it can be fun to be able to link physical features to said heritage, but beyond that, we shouldn’t have to view the world like that. Unfortunately, the worst of us who harbor broad negative feelings about people based on race/ethnicity/national origin cause us to all have to acknowledge differences more than we need to, or maybe in the wrong ways, negative ways instead of celebratory/appreciative positive ways. Everyone has something good to offer, and we should focus on looking for those things, not how anyone who doesn’t look like us is some sort of existential threat to ourselves. I don’t ever want to “not see color”, we’re all fuckin’ beautiful, man, let’s highlight that shit and love one another for it.

So with all that in mind, I don’t think anything should “confuse” anyone. Of someone tells you they’re Peruvian and Sri Lankan, that’s just what it is. I’d maybe auto-store it in my memory, but I can’t really imagine for what purpose, unless they had some close tie to either country/culture and I had questions about it or wanted to check on them if something bad was happening there and they had family out there or something. Other than that…. I can’t imagine how to should ever alter the course of my day, lmao

Not usually because most the time I do not care what someone's race is. I did date a woman who was Asian once and I didn't know what race of Asian she was. And I knew another guy asked her once and it offended her. So while I was curious I didn't ask. I mean I wouldn't be offended if someone asked me whateuropean makeup my descendants have. Later I found out she was Korean and adopted and that probably colored why she was offended. She did see herself as anything but American.

It might be because interracial relationships are less common than same race relationships. It could also just be that they think your features look more hispanic than a black and white mix.

I am so confused by people calling anyone by colors.
I only know of my friends who are Nigerian, Haitian, Jamaican. My brother in law who is 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 Trinidadian, Ethiopian, Egyptian, Porto rican, Brazilian, Portuguese, etc… and Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Germany, Finish, Greek, Japanese, Korea, Thai. Etc… I understand all these people with who they are and where there are from…
I don’t get how one can call anyone by color. I am actually offended by those who degrade others by calling them by color.

@midnightmoon05 That's kind of how I think, as well. The impression I get is that seeing people by color is very much an American and South African cultural thing. We have intensely racist societies (that is; racist in the sense of seeing race as a defining factor in who someone is). It's this weird obsession with making everything "us versus them."
