Of the Seven Historical Figures listed below, which one would you most like to meet? What one question would you like to ask them? Please vote in the poll and post a comment/opinion below.

Put me down for Queen Victoria. She presided over the British Empire at its' height and set the tone for an age. All this as she followed the dictum of the British monarchy that she was to "reign but not rule."

Thus Queen Victoria practiced a statecraft that was subtle and nuanced. A skill that eludes most public figures most of the time, and all this while ensuring the democratic character of her nation and its' parliamentary system. As noted, she set the tone for an age - and one where the Western world perhaps reached its' apogee.

Throw in that it would be fascinating to gain insights on some of the historical figures that she knew. Of particular interest to me being Lord Beaconsfield - i. e. Benjamin Disraeli - one of Britain's most influential and, to my mind, brilliant prime ministers.

Don't get me wrong, all the people on the list are fascinating and I would not miss a chance to meet any of them - even Hitler and Mao. Though suffice to add with those latter two it would be more an exercise in seeing what lay beneath the skin of the monsters.

However, the subtlety and nuance of Queen Victoria's statecraft, plus again the other historical figures she knew - and I should add that I am an American of an Anglophile and Tory conservative bent - would make her a fascinating figure to meet. She set the tone of an age - and thus to some extent for the world we still live in. That would be hard to beat.

Hitler. I mean what he did was horrible and I obviously don't supprt any of it, but he was an interesting guy in some ways. I just listened to a super long podcast about his life from birth to death. Fascinating story.
