Thoughts on Iowa caucus' results?

It's a small state and the freezing cold weather limited the number of people that caucused. It's just the start of a long primary period leading up to the election. By June, we'll have a better idea of what is happening.

I heard an interesting comment about all this, that the Democrats might actually be shooting themselves in the foot by not having primaries and just going with Biden as their nominee. In many states, Independents can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary. With no Democratic primaries, Independents will vote in the Republican primary, and Independents in general want someone other than Trump, which means another candidate, DeSantis or Haley, could end up with the Republican nomination. In polls so far, both DeSantis and Haley would do well in an election against Biden, with some polls showing that Haley would beat Biden easily, garnering some Democrat women and almost all Republican women, plus a majority of Independents.

They have primaries. Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips are challenging Biden, but nobody believes one of them would unseat Biden.

Kinda like in 2020, when Bill Weld tried to challenge Donald Trump.

Hoping Desantis comes in second since I really don't like Nikki. Other than that a predictable Trump win which is the right outcome.

He came in second with 21%. Haley got 19%

I found it entertaining that Fox News kept predicting Trump at over 51% while cnn and msnbc had him at 49.5%.. as if 50% was some magical psychological barrier. Similar to when gas stations advertise a gallon of gas at $2.999.

In the end he did, but as the night results came in cnn kept showing 49.5%

It was very predictable. And I predict that in the general election, Trump will get lots of Democrat votes. People are tired of the insanity.

I'm happy. I hope Desantis comes in second because I despise Haley. And I'm glad Ramaswamy is withdrawing and throwing his support behind Trump.
