What are your thoughts on the South African government confusing tourists by renaming all their cities to sound less White and more African?

At least it seems that Expedia, the tour agencies and the online maps are still using the original colonial names, but newer paper maps and Google Maps, are only showing the new names. It took me some time to figure out that Gqeberha is Port Elizabeth and Mbombela is Nelspruit. The colonial names were pretty and so simple. Why rename them to something no one can remember or pronounce?

I think city names in their native language is more appealing to em

Those cities were named in the native languages of the people who founded them. The tribes all have villages that they named in THEIR native language.
There are 11 official languages in South Africa, so there is no one native language
