What Is your opinions about race swapping?

Do you think race swapping can have positive or negative effects, depending on the situation? For example, in the 1950 movie King Kong, the natives of Skull Island were black people who worshipped a giant monkey. This portrayal could be seen as offensive to the black community, as Africans do not worship monkeys in real life. Additionally, some people use racist language comparing black people to monkeys, which is why black people were not used for the natives of Skull Island in the Monsterverse but they used Asians instead.

The first King Kong was flooded with racial stereotypes not just in the natives of Skull Island but also in the portrayal of Kong himself. He was almost entirely animated and you can easily see the references to black stereotypes in his actions and facial expressions. I think the studio made the right choice swapping the races considering just how awful the beginning was for that series.

So 1950 we're talking about social rights movement so potentially the first or early days of white women and black people able to share a movie scene.

At the same time the ww2 and the Asian interment camps was still a wound left to heal recently. So not that many Asian American actors.

It's the 60s you see more Asian amarican actors.

Do Asians worship monkeys? If that is what the movie means, why use any race at all? Why even make the movie if it is offensive?

I think the idea is that if it were black people doing it then people would see black people worshipping monkeys but if they made Asians do it, you're just thinking about an island where the people worship monkeys since there's no existing stigma about it like there would have been for black people.

It used to just be it is what it is. You're talking of one movie made over 70 years ago when there's probably hundreds of better examples. I'm sure there was some reasoning or angles the directors picked even if it was racist you're still speaking of media that's over 70 years old...

Yes in today's climate it would've been in bad taste for blacks to worship a giant monkey. Social media would be ablaze as would journalists (losers).

Nowadays it's we have to have demographics a specific way no matter what.

Historically accurate pieces of media that exclude all other races and demographics to align to history are consistently attacked by modern media.

We have seen the minorities take over new shows on Amazon and Disney + with a focus on demographics and "equality" resulting in massive losses financially as the quality is often such dog shit modern media frequently censors reviews on failed movies and shows.

Why would IndyCar and NASCAR swap races?

If find it hard to believe that the Indianapolis 500 would ever become a NASCAR race and, just as unbelievable, seeing the Coca-Cola 600 or Daytona 500 then be an IndyCar race.
