One of the biggest problems I find with the government is that they often don't have any skin in the game. We have politicians vehemently opposed to school choice sending kids to private school, warmongers who will happily send people to die in wars but no one they care about, etc. I suspect we'd see very different policies if politicians were required to have skin in the game in some form or another.
