Why are Canadian people so calm and peaceful?

Having lived in several countries, I find violent crime here in Canada to be less than it is in other countries. Also, when violent crime does happen here, most of the time it will not involve a firearm. That said, I don’t live in a major city in Canada, so other Canadian resident’s opinions may vary.

Canada is famously known as the land of ‘sorry’. Canadians can be polite to a fault. How do you cause a traffic jam in Canada? Have a vehicle arrive at a four way stop from each direction at the same time. Everyone will be giving way to everyone else such that nobody moves.

That's a gross generalization, and I think that stereotype comes from the Quebecois. Because I've been to Canada 8 times, and I met my fair share of rude and aggressive people in B. C. and Toronto.

We just happen to be a little smarter as a whole than our brothers to the south of us. I think it also depends on what city you live in. I also notice smaller communities are more friendly.
