What in your opinion is an overrated experience?

Don't do it!!!
I’m going to tell them you’re my accomplice!
Experiencing the depth of diversity, inclusiveness, and a caring, loving community firsthand surpasses any "coom jar" experience. The rich tapestry of connections, perspectives, and growth that arises from fostering a space where everyone feels valued and respected is truly priceless, as it leads to a more compassionate and harmonious world.

Skydiving.

I mean, I get it, it's thrilling or whatever. But really all you are doing is falling, and also you're not even allowed to do the jumping and pulling the cord yourself. Which I TOTALLY get, it would be dumb to do it otherwise because there would be plenty of people who just pass out or fumble and end up dead. But it just seems overrated to me, especially considering the time and cost involved. It's kind of your whole day, and I don't even know the exact cost, but it's over $100, and I would rate it around a $50 experience. You spend time waiting around, loading up, flying up to the height to jump. Then the retrieval and clean up afterward.
I've done lots of thrilling things that released a lot of endorphins, and I don't think skydiving would do a lot for me. It probably would do a lot more for someone who was afraid of heights or had more fear of the experience, since that is linked to the endorphin release. I think cliff or bridge jumping into water is more dangerous and I do that, but the endorphin release diminishes the more you do it and you have to go higher and higher to get a good thrill out of it. At some point the danger to endorphin kickback isn't worth it.
I'm not totally hating on skydiving, and will probably do it sometime just to check it off, and I'm sure it will be fun. I'll try to let myself be as hyped as possible on that day. But I think it qualifies as over-rated due to how pumped and focused so many people seem to get about what is essentially falling for an extended period of time. I also think it's great for people who DO get pumped about it, I'm not hating on them, either. It's just not something that gets me worked up.
Meeting celebrities, they are just normal people usually
College degrees are overrated. You pay between 40-100k in tuition fees for a degree and it takes years to pay it off. A lot of people don't find work in the field they trained for
It depends on the degree. A lot of people get an associates degree, as it helps you stand out in a lot of jobs. Also, college can be useful for networking.
However, I would say that the experience college gives you is not good. You often need to get experiences on your own outside of school for the type of job you want.
sushi... I'm sorry, lol
I tried all the menu days ago... but, maybe it isn't as authentic yet, and not the best sushi can actually be, lol
I love sushi, and for me a big part of the experience is the company as well as the setting. I also now have heaps of fond memories, which kind of builds on each new experience. I recommend you go with people you enjoy to enhance the experience.
@zeitgeist057 well yeah, company makes it all worth... I still had a great time but I just wasn't that thrilled about the raw food
trust me... it is not like me to go out with people I do not enjoy to be with, lmao
It's definitely a combination for me, and maybe it's not for you. But I think it's somewhat of an acquired taste, as it is so different from other types of food we have available to us. But for me, having been introduced as a child and now I've eaten so many pounds of raw fish, it's always delightful, and my preference is for nigiri (on rice) and sashimi (raw fish slices with no other added ingredients).
Maybe you want to avoid it from now on. But if you want to ease yourself into it, I would suggest the prepared rolls which combine various ingredients, and sometimes they are cooked items, like rolls that have tempura in them, which are very popular.
@zeitgeist057 like I said... we don't have the most authentic experience here in the Middle of Nowhere, Texas... lol
not with sushi
I'm not actually trashing sushi, lol
Overrated: car ownership. it would probably be best for everyone if we had more walk-able cities and make mass transit easier to get around instead of relying on the car so much.
Disneyland, the last time I went there it wasn't fun at all. The waiting lines are long and crowded.
