That age difference thing? Again?

Im 56, my wife is 41,( we are both young looking but her more so) we met through work, .. we often get that look of "it's about money"., my wife is Asian but owns more property than I have and her family are wealthy... we laugh sometimes about the looks we get as my wife only looks 25ish.

Is this still a thing in society? Its always a point of questions when ever we meet new people, "where did you meet?", "how old are you?" "well you must be well off then to have such a beautiful wife"😒😒🙄🙄(my wife, alway shocks them by her age). I get that people are curious but as a couple for the last 5 years we find ourselves staying home more and more because we get treated like some sort of "freak show",, we love going out but avoid places we'dreally love to go to becauseof this, sounds paranoid but its usually our trip home conversation and we are quite over the whole questions and assumptions of people... I thought people where past judgmental assumptions?

My humble opinion is don't give a rats a** as to what people believe and how the society is. Whether its your age, skin color, orientation, religion etc. people will have an opinion. Its in our nature to have an opinion and sometimes even act upon it. It is your responsibility as a man to make your wife proud of looking younger and cherish the moment together. I know of couples who are 20-30 years apart and they go on about their life's without the concern of what others thinks.

Also keep in mind that people are in general very keen of knowing about other people's lives and are to some extend jealous about literally everything which they don't have. It can be anything from your lifestyle to your love for each other, to whatever really. They will ask questions, they will be in your face and they may make you uncomfortable. My advice is DON'T let them. Be your own self and be happy about what you accomplished in life and whom you are married to. When you are gone, she will want to remember the good times together... so make the most of it!

If she does work too much, make the most of the time together so when you look back, you will not have any regrets of things you may have missed out on or wished you had done more out of.

Just a few days ago, I was in the grocery store and spotted a sign on one of the freezer cases (on the case itself, so it's a store thing, not a brand or product one) advertising the brand as, quote, "black owned". When I got a manager and asked, specifically, what that meant (yes, they thought I was stupid, but I wanted to give them a chance to explain), they confirmed my suspicions that yes, it referred to their skin color. When I asked what made them think their customer base was so racist that the skin color of a business owner was a deciding factor in purchasing decisions, I was thrown out of the store.

As someone whose immigrant great-grandfather made a point of collecting "No Irish Need Apply" signs he stole from business back in the day, I've never been prouder to be thrown out of a place, but it goes to show that not only are people not beyond judgmental assumptions, they're going backwards when it comes to them.

In the words of John Waters, you'd "better brace yourselves for a whole lotta ugly comin' at you from a neverending parade of stupid".

I'm 54 and my Asian wife is 34 but we both look 10 years younger than our age. She likes when I grow a beard because she likes when I look older and manly but its got a little too much gray in it and I look my age and she still looks 24. We tend to hang around couples similar to us. It's usually older women that say something.

We here regularly receive "looks" as well
(Europe/SE Asia, 60 and 47)
Where interestingly, the "looks" are usually given by 'Westerners'.
We can't blame people to have a narrow horizon.
But we are also not obliged to explain to them or to spend time with them :)

We actually had one woman say to us after many times telling her "but you met on line"? even after telling her we met through our jobs

People think a much younger looking woman is with an older looking guy for the money is because that is usually the case. Or she is razzle dazzled by some rock star artist cool guy bullshit, or status bullshit, or prestigious career, or he supplies her with drugs. Sometimes none of that is the case and it's just a normal relationship. The hell with what people think.
