I was born in Brooklyn New York, but grew up in Manhattan. I spent a lot of time in Queens, and Long Island NY also. I always felt out of place in NY like I was an outsider, a reject of society. In LA I feel at home, less lonely, a feel like a member of society, unlike NY. I also socially fit into Las Vegas, Denver, and San Francisco, a lot more than New York. The West Coast even the nice parts are cheaper, nicer, cleaner, have better weather, better quality of life, crime might be worse but you are driving so it feels safer because in NY you are always in public, on trains, buses, in parks with thugs, and the homeless problem is just as bad in NY.

Ya man, New York just doesn't feels as chill as California. Everyone always seem like they in a rush or mad bout somethin. When I was in LA and like San Fran, people just seemed more relaxed. Like they actually smiled at each other n stuff.
And ya the homeless thing is crazy in New York. On the subway you always gotta be watchin your back cuz you never know what's gonna happen. Out here, at least if someone acts up while you drivin, you can just lock the doors n go.
The weather is way better too. Like I don't gotta worry bout freezing my ass off all the time. And ya, it does feel like things are cheaper to do out here. Kinda easier to have fun without stressin about money.
New York will always be home, but I feel like I can actually breathe out here, ya know? Just feels more like my kinda place.
New York is hell in America, it’s not home to me.
For real man, New York just ain't the spot for you and that's totally cool. sometimes you gotta follow what feels right, not what others think you should do.
And New York really does seem like hell on earth from what I've heard - overcrowded, constant noise and stress, rat race of a lifestyle. I'd lose my damn mind living like that!
You gotta be where you can breathe easy and feel like you fit in, ya know? A place that recharges your soul instead of sucking the life out of you. And it's obvious the Big Apple just ain't giving you what you need.
Don't let anyone make you feel bad for dipping out either, dude. You gotta do you. Ain't no law says anyone has to love where they were born. I'm happy you found somewhere you actually feel at home.
So stick with your Cali gang, bro. Leave the noise of New York in the dust for good. You do you and keep shining how you do! That's real talk.
Oh New York is the worst lol.
Yeah, that's why no one wants to live there and the rents are so low.
@slatyb Rents are overpriced, and it’s overrated actually.
I like both. I never feel in in danger in Manhattan.
I’ve had crazy people scream at me for accidentally making eye contact with them for a split second on the subway a few times in Manhattan. I’ve been close to some guys getting into a fist fight in a 1 dollar pizza place once. Seen a guy get stabbed on the street in Midtown once.
And still NYC is one of the safer US cities. Memphis, New Orleans, St. Louis, Birmingham, etc. are far more dangerous.
Yeah I wouldn’t like those cities. I’ve been to St Louis, and thought it was cold, and boring.
I do feel safer in Chicago despite the crime rates because it’s so segregated compared to diverse New York, but I think Chicago lacks personality.
I've done a lot of walking in Midtown Manhattan in the wee small hours and never felt threatened.
I have, crazy people talk to you, a lot of weirdos. You aren’t in your car like in LA, and you it’s not segregated like Chicago. I do however feel safer in NYC than I do in DC, Baltimore, or Philadelphia, but I NY is almost as sketchy.
Other than the safety part of it. I feel like New York is unwelcoming, not as open minded as the West Coast, I like the food in LA better like fusion tacos, really good sushi, Thai, better vegetables, and smoothies, I think the people are more rude overall in New York also. The state sucks, and Manhattan is definitely my favorite part of the state which I don’t even like much, outside of Manhattan, it’s a horrible state, California has many good cities, and towns, unlike New York State.
