As an FYI, I don't support Biden or Trump
Anonymous(36-45)1 yPutin's actions kind of prove it already, If Putin didn't feel Biden was predictable in thinking he could get away with it Putin would never have risked invading the Ukraine, nor most anything else he has done.
The fact that Biden has a 40 year political history give you a lot to work with to predict him.
This is why Putin did nothing during the 4 years of Trump but annex Crimina during Biden/Obama and tried to go after the rest during Biden/Harris. Clearly Putin feels free to act under the Biden/Obama team.00 Reply

Why is it that whenever people talk about politicians they accept that they are all lying bastards but the moment it comes down to Putin, who may I remind you, previously worked in the damn KGB spy and is well versed in lying and controlling information, you all suddenly start believing that he is the most truthful and honest person in the world.
Putin would be an idiot for wanting Biden over Trump since Biden has been a consistent thorn in Putins behind where as Trump never did anything to actually inconvenience Putin while at the same time undermining USAs position as a super power.10 Reply
Yes because biden is frail weak old man. Trump threatened to blow up the Kremlin once.

Asker1 yYou right, the US is a disaster right now.
Asker1 y"Inflation back to normal" my recent grocery bill says that's a lie.
Asker1 yDepends weather inflation actually goes down, or the rate of inflation goes down. Rate of inflation going down, doesn't lower prices, just means prices won't increase. Current situation in the US, is the rate of inflation is slightly down, so prices didn't come down.

No. Inflation is shorthand for the rate of inflation. It almost never goes negative, which is what would be needed for prices to go down, and if it does it's usually bad news for the economy. It's back down to just over 3% in the US, and that's a normal rate for the last few decades.

1 yNo, it doesn't surprise me at all. Most people prefer certainty when it comes to issues that are very serious.
10 Reply 7.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's almost like that is the reason why he waited until Biden took office to attack Ukraine.

The last moment. Putin did not WANT to invade Ukraine, he had to or otherwise they would have slipped from his fingers and aligned with the EU and NATO. Putin originally planned a political overthrow of Ukraine in the same style as he is currently doing with Belarus but that all fell to pieces in 2014 and ever since then Putin has desperately tried to salvage the situation which ultimately resulted in him pressing the big red button named "INVASION".

Ukraine has not really been considered to join NATO. It was in Russias sphere of influence, they had a Russian puppet as their leader, they have Russian military bases in their country etc.. While there might be talks there was no realistic expectation of it happening before the Maidan revolution. Ukraine aligning with Europe and NATO was only possible because the revolution was a counter movement to Russias influence which means that if you think of it as a pendulum, if you pull it over to Russias side and then release it you will then swing over "neutral" and then go about as far in the opposite direction AKA aligning with the west.
Russia, using their forceful methods to take control over Ukraine had accidentally created the exact opposite simply because they lost control for a single moment. At that point it would take generations to undo the "damage" (from Russias point of view) which is why it was no longer a realistic option. Russia did not HAVE generations worth of time to corrupt Ukraine again because they would have joined NATO and the EU by then. - 1 y
But there was still benefits for Russia for corrupting Ukraine for this long. Namely, that they had virtually full control over Ukraines local government in Crimea including the armed forces and could just walk in to claim it and they had enough popular support in the border regions to Russia to put in agents to start revolutionary movements as well as to support them with weapons to overthrow the Ukrainian control.
The remains of the political strategy being turned into the groundwork for the military strategy. Pretty standard stuff honestly. That is also why they happened so soon after the Maindan revolution, because those were already Russian assets in place and ready to go unlike an actual military invasion.
Putins decisions in regards to Ukraine makes perfect sense without even considering USA and what they would do even once. Because Ukraine is in Russias sphere of influence at the time so USAs opinion on the matter really does not matter. - 1 y
Apparently, Trump told Putin that he would nuke Moscow if he invaded Ukraine and that was why he didn't do it.
Even if he was lying, I still don't see why this is the problem of the US citizens. Nobody wants to dies for this shit especially since the US isn't the one being threatened. Same goes for Israel. - 1 y
Yeah, I do not believe Trump did that nor why Putin would believe a word of it even if he did.
Fundamentally though, this is Americas mess to deal with as long as you want to stay as a super power. Being a super power explicitly means that you have a sphere of influence that envelops countries and regions of interest. Two of those for USA is Europe and Israel specifically. As such having Russia do whatever it wants in Ukraine is a direct assault on US power and influence.
Also its worth considering the consequences of not acting. If USA does not act, Europe will. Putting aside how that undermines your authority, this would mean that Europe potentially either sends troops to fight in Ukraine or maybe straight up declares war on Russia.
Not saying you can't stay out of that shitshow but an America in such a future would be much weaker and poorer than it is today as a result. As such it is very much in USAs best interest to step up and give even more money, equipment and support to Ukraine so things do not get any worse.

That's the exact reaction Putin tries to enforce, by mentioning Biden. Also Trump is seen an asset (by being naive and easily influenced), just like this Alexander Smirnov character, the GOP so falsely pinned their hopes on.
