Medical journals have now moved to block research on the impact of puberty blockers on children. As if the research is a threat to them or something.. Sad..

There's always been politics in publication, acquiring grants, and academic position. It's part of the field. There are studies that get published that are based on unsound evidence and studies based on sound evidence that get rejected repeatedly. As a scientist you have to read journals very critically, evaluated the design of the experiment, and examine the data skeptically to determine if what you are reading is reasonable. After you read it you're going to go and look for additional supporting evidence after that and possible try to repeat the experiment in your own lab. People that are scientists understand that. The general public never seemed to grasp it though and just believe if a study is referenced by the media it must be true even if there are conflicting studies with better design and more accurate and precise findings. That's the sad part... The good news is that certain portions of the population are beginning to awaken to that political nature of publishing, and are learning to become more skeptical.

They also believe Japan nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize, India and Pakistan asked him to mediate over Kashmir, bone spurs kept him out of Vietnam, he's healthier than Obama, he "brought the troops home," he won't release his tax returns because he's being audited (going on 8 years), a woman in Iowa came up to him complaining fly paper was banned becuase it was cruel to flies, politicians always come to him with tears in their eyes begging for his endorsement, and calling him "sir" instead of "Mr. President."

No, not at all. We live in a world where politicians and lie on a daily basis, and their followers will beleive everything those polticians say.

To be honest though, when it comes to covid, the messaging was terrible. We were told to not wear masks because they were not necessary, but the real reason was that they didn't want first responders and medical staff to run out. Then they said two weeks to break the curve, then vaccines prevented covid. If they had just been honest and said "We think this is what will happen," or "our best guest is..." instead of stating things like fact that had no been tested, we'd be better off.

Now some nuts don't believe in any science or medical advice, research, etc.

Same thing with global warming, flu shots, etc.
