That the Republican Party (GOP) is the "party of family values".

I realized that was bullshit in 1992 when the GOP and GOP President George H. W. Bush was against the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

But, when Democrat Bill Clinton became President in January 1993, the FMLA was among the first pieces of legislation he signed. He was inaugurated on 20 JAN 1993 and he signed the FMLA legislation into law on 05 FEB 1993, 16 days into his administration. Why was this passed so quickly? Because it's important to working-class families and helped them.

The FMLA entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. ** the placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care and to care for the newly placed child within one year of placement;

So, bottom-line, the FMLA lets an employee take UNPAID leave for issues related to family.

One time in university I was studying for my biology exam in the library and dozed off. When I woke up, I was so late that I almost missed the entire class and sprinted into the classroom and accidentally made a huge scene bursting into the room in panic.

Then the professor asked me what's up and I deeply regretted it as soon as I said it but I was so panicked and said I got in a car accident on the way to class. Then he believed me which actually made me more upset and let me take the exam in his office.

I was so paranoid about keeping a perfect 4.0 GPA back then ever since my student advisor told me I'm the only student in the entire university with a perfect GPA. I don't know why. I don't think it would have made any difference to what jobs I was offered if it was slightly below 4.0. Yet I ended up lying there worried that it would mess up my GPA if I told the truth.

My LD ex told me she was single; during the times we kept in touch after breaking up. A year passed, I believed her, but surprise: she was already seen another guy shortly after we breakup. They met online then in person. From there on, I decided to respect myself and don't write her first, ever again. Few times in a year she have wrote me. I respond, but I will not be the first one sending messages.

For that lie that lasted an entire year, I started questioning other things. What else did she hide from me? Thank God we never met in person.

My parents told me they would get my nose done once I hit 18. However, I got rhinoplasty just last year when I was 21. Though it might seem like a harmless white lie to console me at that time. I had an accident which deformed the shape of my nose, and that surgery was the only way for me to get my confidence back. After having been fed with all those fake promises for 5 years, it was heartbreaking for me to learn that they were not going to support me financially.
