What is your general opinion on Vladimir Putin?

He’s a tyrant but also a predictable outcome of Soviet ideology and KGB influence. He views everything not Russian as a potential threat and lives life accordingly. He consolidates power mercilessly and squashes dissent, which is all textbook Soviet playbook. While he’s not our enemy he sure isn’t our friend. I do think he (like the soviets taught) has little regard for human life, Russian or otherwise, and would think nothing of throwing a million lives into the fire if he thought the end goal was desirable (and not even a lot - even just a ‘little bit’ desirable is enough to justify this!).

The upside to Putin? He’s predictable. He will ALWAYS do what’s best for him, and Russia, in that order. I’m more afraid of whomever may replace him because the one thing about Putin is he rules without compassion or flexibility and he keeps the semblance of order in a nation which we don’t need running amok.

He's obviously a dictator. Someone who's able to do anything to keep his power. A president who doesn't care about his own people. He loves himself too much and that can be dangerous.

Putin is typical KGB apparatchik without any scruples. Over time he gained a desire to become great Russian Czar who will reverse falling apart off former Soviet Union.

My opinion of Putin is neutral, he's not a good guy while at the same not our enemy (tho US/NATO is tying to make him our enemy). Honestly we have no room to be pointing fingers at Putin/Russia bad when US/NATO is guilty of causing death and destruction. I don't support or agree with Putin/Russia, just don't feel he's our enemy or that we should be pointing fingers till get our shit together and aren't causing death and destruction in other countries. That's said, everyone feel free to label a Putin puppet all you want, I'm use to being labeled a Putin puppet for wanting peace and not war that only benefits Defense contractors and others who profit off of war.

Guy could have been one of our best friends in the world but we slapped his hand away.

Russia is not the soviet union. Russians where the 1st people to die fighting a war against communists.
