Why America does not overthrow Putin?

Putin came to power by deceiving the West and then betrayed the West. Why does America not punish him for this dishonor?

He did NOT come to power by deceiving the West. He worked as a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. During that time he was ruthless and was responsible for the death of many political opponents of the Russian rulers. In 1991 he was popular with the leaders and resigned to begin a political career.

In 1996, he moved to Moscow to join the administration of President Boris Yeltsin. He served in different positions before being appointed prime minister in August 1999. Following Yeltsin's resignation, Putin became acting president and, in less than four months, was elected to his first term as president. He has alternated as president and prime minister since then.

He has led Russia in various military operations against other countries, gaining support in some and annexing some. He now has a nuclear arsenal capable of destroying the earth many times over, and very powerful Naval vessels including submarines that are capable of remaining almost completely hidden.

At the least, any attempt to overthrow Putin would result in the destruction of many countries as well as residual nuclear fallout for a long time.

Putin is still somewhat useful for USA, in that he is holding Russia together. Russia has nuclear weapons and USA really does not want it to turn into a failed state. Imagine for example if the government collapsed and lost control over the nukes and random people all over Russia now had access to nuclear weapons. It would have been a disaster.

As such USA is actually fairly alright with Russia being... well Russia. The thing with Ukraine was going a bit too far but only to the point where USA will make sure that Ukraine wins, rather than overthrow or assassinate Putin. USA wants Russia to basically just back off without destroying the country itself.

Government change works in some Banana republic under US control, In Russia is US influence very low. Even China that has more economical and political power on Russian Oligarchy wouldn't be able to exchange Putin. Russians love their Czars, especially if they are bad boys.

American Republicans like Trump are Putin sympathizers. So now we are stuck with dopes in Congress who take Russia's side. The US Speaker of the House could help Ukraine but Trump told him not to. It's really sick. :(

A direct confrontation would possibly end in nuclear war and the end of civilization everywhere. But besides that Putin has a lot of media influence in the US and has used it to make enough of the US sympathetic to Russia that congress would never agree to it - in the US declaring war takes an act of congress.

Though there are ways a president can make us do something like a war (i. e. vietnam) but if a democratic president did this with Russia he would be instantly impeached and possibly removed. A republican could get away with it but because republican policies are are so massively unpopular you pretty much can't become a republican president (or any sort of politician) without Russia's media influence giving you a boost, which they aren't going to do if you are hostile to them. And realistically there is no other option besides a democrat or republican..

Clearly Biden, Obama, and Clinton are involved with Russia. They did a lot of dirt in office... Russia has the info on what they did in Russia, thus has blackmail over them. The Russia Russia Russia Hoax was projection by them onto Trump to try to scapegoat Trump for Democrat crimes. The real scandal is what the Democrats have been doing. Democrats can't take action against Russia because they are controlled.

It would take a fairly long time and both countries have nuclear weapons. Reality is nuclear deterrence is why. If we attack nukes fly. If Russia attacks nukes fly. If either side launches the other launches. End of the way no one wins everyone loses

Because Putin is tough to kill, and we don't have anyone in place that could realistically take power if Putin was gotten rid of.

It's distinctly possible that whoever follows after Putin would be worse than Putin. And that would be a big problem for us.

USA acts only on selfish motives which will be camouflaged to be something else (Irak weapons of massdistraction, democracy... but in fact power and oil).
Killing Putin would not benefit USA. So that is the reason it won't happen
