What are the things that make you embarrassed?

I thought I was almost completely immune to embarrassment. I even went streaking naked in the past in front of hundreds of strangers to help me to get over my shyness and embarrassment and that worked really well as a therapeutic technique (overcoming fear through exposure).

It's difficult to get embarrassed about anything when we've gone streaking naked like that and our pictures ended up on so many people's cell phones.

Yet I did find myself embarrassed one time a few years ago when I started go-cart racing with my brother-in-law. He invited me to his team but they're all very skilled at it and on the first day I showed up, a bunch of famous race car drivers (complete pros) from Japan participated in the competition.

So when I arrived I was like, "What? I've never even driven a go-cart. You want me to enter a race against professional race car drivers?" Brother-in-law: "Yep, you're on our team now."

Then I tried and I was so embarrassed trying to keep up with the pros that I kept skidding and drifting off the road and I'd mess up the drivers behind me shouting, "Sorry, sorry, sorry!" as they whizzed by and expressed frustration as I kept crashing all over the place. Even knocked down a whole bunch of tires to block off the track and had to pick them up in a hurry, trying not to let my team down too much with my horrible times while trying to drag the cart back on the road as fast as possible shouting, "Sorry, sorry, sorry!"

I actually felt embarrassed! I forgot what that felt like.

Also after my turn in the race, I went upstairs and a huge audience was watching our race on the television. Then I overheard people saying like, "Who's that jackass who keeps crashing?" Ugh. Thankfully I was wearing a helmet to cover my face. But I wanted to hide.

I got to meet Awano Kisaragi at that race (Tokyo drift queen). She's one of the people I raced against and shouting, "Gomen nasai [sorry!]"

That's the caliber of drivers I was racing against and it was my first time ever driving a go-cart! 😅 And I didn't even get to practice on the track. They just threw me into the race. I was like, "How am I supposed to learn how to drive this thing?" Brother-in-law: "We believe in you!"

I was humiliated 3 times while a student when I liked guys my age and later learned they were married. My friend tried to comfort me and told me I was good at hiding my interest and nobody has any clue I liked these people.

I usually get embarrassed when I mention or talk about the fact that I was raped. lol, I'm learning to no longer be embarrassed about it, that if people want to shame me, then they can shame me.

Any mention of penis or masturbation on tv if I’m around people especially my mother when I visit her. I make sure that there’s something about Mary or transformers (bayformers) isn’t on or I try to quickly and quietly change the channel.

Our politicians embarrass me. I like in America one of most amazing counties. Just look at what going on here the racist propaganda. Homeless vets not getting proper medical care. Yet we send billions of dollars to countries that hate us. Just think I fought for this country. @Precipice the shame part just comes from thinking before i act or say something. As such i meant to do it or say it. Shame is mostly commonly associated with people that are impulsive. Embarassment is similar but recently it has become more common for people to be embarassed to not know something. Something isn't all that helpful or worth knowing.
