Everyone does it, but I think it's important to remember that your first impression of someone is not the the full story or conclusion... Just an impression based off of the little bit you see.
It's important to be able to understand that you don't fully know a person until you talk to them and get to know them. They're face could be covered in tattoos but they now regret them and think entirely different.
They could be wearing a suit and tie but thinking the most unprofessional and criminally insane thoughts. That's were the saying, " Don't Judge a book by its cover" comes to play..
How we choose how we dress, cut our hair, and do our make-up reflects our personalities, backgrounds, social groups etc. Why dress like a thug if you're not a thug? Why dress like the village cumbucket if you're not? We all know how to dress for a job interview because how we present ourselves matters.
To me it's not always enough data to draw a conclusion. So we should use that data and also collect more to help figure things out. We should weight the probability of our assumptions being correct in proportion to the amount of evidence we've collected, and just appearance typically isn't enough for a bold conclusion.
Sometimes there's enough data just visually to draw a fairly confident conclusion. For example, with this one, I figure there's a ~95% chance he's a police officer:
However, with these ones, I think there is at least at least a ~35% chance they could be male strippers:
So we should not assume they are police officers right away until we gather more data. Like:
Me: Hey officer.
Man: How's it going?
Me: Do you enjoy dancing?
Man: Yep.
Me: Do you enjoy dancing in a way where women tip you money?
Man: Absolutely.
Me: Would you say this is like a hobby you do when you aren't solving crimes?
Man: Actually I don't solve crimes. I mostly just do that.
Me: Is that like an undercover job?
Man: You could say that.
Me: Do you enjoy donuts?
Man: No.
Now I am 75% confident that he is a male stripper.
No, everyone looks the way they look their is a reason why someone look the way they look, it does tell something about that person.

Right or wrong we all do it! Me for example when hiring girls for working the bar or dining room when they show up full of tattoos, or face full of piercings I will take their application, but seldom have ever called them back in for an interview. Somewhat the same with the knuckleheads working in the kitchen.
How else are people meant to determine if they should approach someone? It isn't like you can look at a person and have their entire life story displayed for you so you can read it and decide if you like that
It may be wrong but that dont mean we dont have the right to do it
That's the biggest mistake in acquiring friends. As for me I love meeting eccentric and different type personalities.
No... pre-judge. but change your judgement as you get to know them.
I don't see turning that off. being ignorantly stuck in judgement is wrong.
I don’t like to judge I always give people a chance
Everyone judges no matter what they say. Judging your environment is how humans interact with reality.
Nah, if you based your entire opinion on them as a person based off their appearance, then yeah that's wrong.. But, you made a quick judgement but kept your mind opened to what type of person they might be, that's fine, and it's natural..
Yes, of course never judge a book by its cover
people present themselves as they want to be perceived
I live in an area where the hair color I see every day is normal & and then I turn the TV on & can't believe how bad some people look.
Lucky you to be away from all the nonsense of this generation 😂
Yes, but I rarely, alright often do anyway because it's funny. Otherwise that's just life and has been for a goddamn long time!
judging is natural... prejudice is wrong
nope. Why would it be?
pretty wrong
