I tend to judge based on appearance subconsciously and I hate it a lot but I try to acknowledge that at least because I understand how society as a whole tends to place stereotypes and treat people that don’t fit in or express themselves differently negatively.
Society tends to judge people on their attractiveness, their dialect, their level of education, their age, their skin color, how much money they have, their sexuality, etc. So much things are judged. It’s extremely sad
A part of me wonders why a lot of humans become so judgmental as they get older?

I do judge based on appearance, but I don't think I'm a bad person for doing so. Let me explain why.
Conforming nonconformity
First, a person's appearance is somewhat up to them. It is an expression of their values, style, and also shows the kind of care they take in both how they choose to adorn themselves and also the care they take hygienically or in fitness. The outward expression tells me something about them, whether they are sending an intentional message or not. Sometimes the intentional message is misleading, when someone is dressed up for example, trying to promote themselves as professional. But often, our clothing and appearance unknowingly reflect our life.
Carefully crafted self expression
Another reason I judge people based on their appearance is that I believe that people slowly conform to the way they are treated, and begin to reflect more and more that treatment and the expectation they have of how they will be treated by society. It is a bit of a "chicken or the egg first?" scenario, that feeds on itself. People tend to allow others to define them, and I believe those who are treated kindly or presumed to be kind, tend to be kinder. Those who are treated with distrust and contempt on the other hand, tend to act more deserving of the treatment (even if they weren't originally, as most were not).

I will say people can have personalities that go outside of the stereotype for their look. There are very nice punk rockers, unprofessional business people, happy goths, and sober hippies. While I do judge based on looks/appearance, it is more of a quick baseline and I'm quite content to be flexible on my judgement should someone choose to step outside of the box with their behavior.
I don't judge people based off of their appearance, at all really. I DO judge people based on the actions they take or have taken and their ability to take accountability for them.
Since you asked why/why no, I'll use your examples..
- attractiveness: this is too subjective for any one opinion to ever be considered fact. Just because I may not find a particular individual attractive doesn't mean another person won't. This is why I don't bother going out of my way to ever calling someone that I don't find attractive, ugly.
- dialect: We all have one, and says nothing about who we are.
- education: I don't know everything and even those that society would accept as stupid, may be a genius on some subject.
- age: This does tend to come across as being judgmental, agreed. But I feel this to be more of an argument in society of a philosophical nature than one to simply pass judgement on. As a society, we have no other mechanism available to establish certain policies and protections. When is someone old enough to engage in sexual activities? When is someone too old to drive safely? What age should we consider acceptable to allow people to fight our wars? Is there an age considered 'too old' to play with toys? All these philosophical questions will tend to have always result in valid answers that contradict each other.
- skin color: This is just plain foolish. The level of melanin in a person's skin is irrelevant to their measure of a person
- money: This one I always have found comical tbh. How much is really too much or too little should only be cared about by he/she who is using that money. I only know how much money I need, how could I ever know how much someone else needs, much less gauge if they have more or less of it is something I can't bring myself to bother with. How much is a lot of money really? If we're just talking about wealth in general, even someone with $0 can potentially be wealthier than I.
- sexuality: Being a man, I am only qualified to talk only about men. I've come across many homosexual men that are more in touch with their masculinity than many heterosexual ones. So their sexuality is an irrelevant measure to me.
What is the first thing we look at when we see someone's profile on a dating site? Their photo, right? That is the first thing we judge them by. We all do it even if we won't admit it. It is kind of like the guys looking at a Playboy. They say they got it for the articles but what was the first think they turned to? The centerfold. We judge people by their appearance every day. Gentleman, nerd, slut, hippie, meth head, dork, Karen, etc. The only ones who may not judge someone is those at the bottom of the heap because they have no where to go but up and are seen by the higher ups a lower than a snake's ass in a wagon rut. But the rest of us do judge by appearance. Would you want the homeless living in your neighborhood? I assume you would say no.
I have nothing wrong with homeless people. That’s the thing that’s wrong, society looks down at people and disregards people who don’t fit into the standard as literally less than human.
I dont judge anyone on their appearance or content of character, because I myself am weird and like I understand if others are too, because everyone's different and pretty in their own ways, and i tend to just rather accept them as they are an carry on with my life, because anyway how they look like or anything doesn't affect me, and i just usually treat everyone as Id like to be treated and try seeing their perspective of things and if i were to be them and get bullied, or judged, id not be happy, so i dont do that to others
If someone's overweight, it can mean so many things. It can mean they're lazy about their health, depressed, don't care about their appearance, all of the above, etc.
Conversely, if someone's extremely fit, it can mean they value their physical health and appearance and have a good work ethic to be consistent with it. It can mean they have higher confidence and can potentially be egotistical because of their figure and physical capabilities, all of the above, etc.
If someone has a lot of piercings, it could mean they have a rebellious nature, they've had past trauma, a higher likelihood of engaging in risky sexual behaviour, negative emotionality, all of the above, etc.
If someone is physically attractive, there's a higher chance of them being egotistical and being a player that takes advantage of their attraction level to manipulate and coerce others. (It's important to note that not all people who are physically attractive are this way, but there is a correlation).
If someone is not physically attractive, there's a higher chance of them being empathetic and kind to others, a higher chance of them being bitter about life and being depressed, and other stuff. (Again, it doesn't apply to all, but there is a correlation.)
Body language and the way a person dresses can also speak volumes about a person's personality, level of confidence, intelligence, sense of aesthetic, etc. Smiles, eye contact, frowns, grimaces... you name it...
Yes, I absolutely do judge others based on appearance, and most of the time (not all) my guesses are correct.
It's natural to judge others based on appearance. It's a human defense mechanism. Humans naturally assess their surrounding danger levels as a survival instinct. If you didn't judge others around you, then if you bumped into a bear, you would approach it without a care in the world. If you didn't judge others, you'd approach a guy that looks like he's a gang member without any hesitation. I don't know why people try to deny this. Everything about a person's appearance is evaluated. If it wasn't true, just dress however you want to interviews or business meetings. See how that goes.
Everybody judges everybody to some degree and it’s necessary to some degree but looking down on someone or thinking they’re less than you is a terrible way to be and so many of us if not all of us are guilty of this to some level at least a time or two in our lives when we truly have no right to be because we have no idea about that persons life regardless of what they look like we don’t know what they have in the bank or what they gave up for whatever reason or if they’re sick and anyone of can be on top one minute and make a wrong choice and wind up broke or in prison or sometimes even make the right choice and wind up in prison hell I defended my 13 year old daughter from a guy that threatened to follow her home and molest her he even put hands on me first and I went to jail just me I know of a 21 year old girl that went out had 2 drinks and a drunk dude walk in front of her car she ran him over he died and she got involuntary manslaughter because she blew like not even half of the legal limit but because she had a small amount on her breath she was sentenced to 2 years she’s doing a little more than a year before she can get paroled a real pretty white girl that comes from money even just one wrong choice and any of us could wind up like the ones we judge. And girl you are always out there fighting the good fight I might not agree with your tactics or even what you’re fighting for but I have mad respect for such a young lady that stands up for the unjustices she sees and wants to make a change your family should be proud
What I try to do is judge by the emotional projection rather than appearance, but appearance has a factor. I most appreciate balance... normalcy. Extremes mean something is going on, often, can't be found without "digging" into that person.
I think I take everything into account not just appearance. I learned that from the Bible, Jesus, church. Appearance is shallow thinking... as is color/sex. I avoid it... but no doubt, judgements can occur in me and anyone.
We are all learning "trust" and have different views on it. The question is what does a person value. Survival/fear is a value.
Everyone judges others based on their appearance. Especially when it comes to first impressions. How you project yourself out to the world is how you will be perceived. It's no coincidence that people who are generally more attractive have it 'easier' in social and dating circumstances (damn even corporate) than lesser attractive people. There is a reason why we dress nicely when going to a job interview.
Looks are so important that it determines half if not the majority of the success in attracting potential partners. In that regard, looks are extremely important (your own genetic looks as well as the way you dress and carry yourself).
We ALL judge others on their appearance. The question is whether we define someone based on their appearance. And that's where the difference lies.
Im gonna be extremely truthful here. I try not to judge them, but I subconsciously do, without even me realizing. I just like to know what kind of peraon im dealing with. But on the other hand, looks are deceiving. You cannot get to know someone based on their appearance. I usually get to know a person well, before forming an opinion on them.
Most of the time I have to stay i dont judge people based off thier appearance. I used to but when I realized that my thoughts are separate from who I am i became a lot less judgmental. Example: I'm in the car with 3 woman and 2 start to laugh at clown this guy who was riding on a colorful bike with a pink tutu and some other clothes. The bike had baskets with flower and all type of stuff. I thought to myself wow thats cool , and I really respect that person for coming outside like that and not giving two shits about what anyone else thought. I even wished I was more like him.
Absolutely I do. We choose how to look because we want to send a message about our personality. Yes people can use dress to deceive, a criminal can put on a suit, but generally speaking how we dress and carry ourselves reflects the type of person we are.
It was common to judge when we were younger, ages 18 and under. But now i try to only judge who directly affects me. In other words, if im trying to date you, i gotta look at you from every aspect and judge if you fit the criteria. Its not always a bad judging and i dont always release my judgments aloud
The reason you're even biologically capable of judging people based on their appearance is because it works.
What should happen, is that you make assumptions, but not make any drastic decisions based on them, and allow them to be overwritten as you discover more concrete information.
Sometimes people have a bitchy or mean face so I avoid them or they might remind me of someone I don’t like so I instantly dislike them. Most of it is unconscious bias and sometimes I have overcome it and really come to like people I initially judged based on their appearance.
*sigh* yeeeaaaaaaaa I do... I only date girls who dress on a conservative level. Not necessarily conservative but if you put two girls of similar attraction in front of me and one is wearing a modest dress and the other one has her ass crack hanging out, tramp stamp, and belly showing... which one you think I'm actually going to approach? People can say what they want about that, whatever man. I'm just being real to myself.
I'm not even going to lie, I do judge people based off their appearance. And I'll admit it is helpful in determining what kind of person you're dealing with. You can judge a person accurately on their manner and presentation.
of course i judge them based on their appearance. cause the appearance is how they choose to present themself. so it is meant to be judged. it is meant to show who they are. you can not go outside of the house, not showing who you are. we live in reality... of course i'm not gonna judge someone about a disability or about how nature made them. that's not in their power to change.
Everyone does it. Those who say otherwise are lying to themselves, you get someone's character after a little bit of conversation but we all subconsciously judge people based on the first appearance we get of them. It's human nature and built into our biology.
Everyone does it and anyone who says not to do it is a hypocrite. Everyone quickly judges others for how they look. It is a basic mental process governed by the amygdala, the oldest part of the brain. As soon as a subject sees another, he judges it and categorizes it into a group of people. Both for how it is and for how it dresses, etc...
I still judge off appearance at first glance but I’ve learned that there is so much more to a person than the appearance. I’ve seen good looking and crazy, ugly and beautiful in the inside, pretty and awesome, fat and fun, I mean there’s all kinds of people out there and everyone of them is unique.

Of course I do. EVERYONE does. Anyone who says they don't is LYING.
If you dress like an uncouth slob, I'm not going to give you a second look. But if you take pride in the way you look, I will respect you.
If you're fat, I will assume you either don't ever exercise or you take no thought to what or how much you eat. If you're fit, then I will respect you.
I do not do profiling based on clothes. Clothes are nothing in front of the person. Clothes tell many things but not the behavior of the person and history of the person. Did it when I was in school. Not anymore.
i have just like most have judged someone off of how they may look. but i as i have gotten older and i too have been judged i think it is fair to say that it is wrong and we need to try harder to see the real person inside and not how they act or behave too.
Everyone judges off appearance, it's human nature and the way the human brain works. We are constantly categorizing things subconsciously, the hard part is recognizing that you are doing it.
I judge based on their overall personality that includes their appearance. I don't know why but the ones that are fat and ugly have consistently been rude to me. It's like they're fed up with their lives even if they have more money than me.
Mostly not. If I'm being extremely annoyed I might start reaching and looking for flaws in whatever: whether their clothes are clean, how they carry themselves, anything..
Which is a natural defense mechanism. Again, you absolutely should internally judge and assess people. You don't need to always act on it, but you shouldn't be open with anyone.
I reckon there is only one thing more personal than judging someone on their appearance and that's judging someone on their level of Confidence.

It is normal to judge people subconsciously or not. It's part of a defense mechanisms to know if there's danger and for us to protect ourselves. Obviously some people take it to the extreme becuase they are assholes.
