Incorrect. The guy that got famous on tiktok for telling people how to do abuse the squatting system knew several other people that were actively abusing it. The homeowners have to engage in lengthy legal battles just because somebody decided to invade their home and abuse laws that should not exist in the first place.

And in red states they typically have them wait much longer than what New York has going on. But frankly I don't think squatters should have any rights whatsoever because if you don't pay for a property why should you get to own it just because someone abandons it?

I don't care about your emotional arguments, if something is a crime it is a police officer's duty to apprehend the criminal and put them through the justice system. They have discretion but that discretion should not be expected by those throwing a pity party.

The law should be unambiguous and consistent. You should be able to look at the law on paper and then figure out how it's going to unfold without any further context.

Muddying the enforcement of the law to some sort of selective approach is why these corrupt district attorneys are causing so many problems by not prosecuting criminals.
