my mom, born left-handed in beginning of the '50s, in primary school they blocked her left hand and was forced to use only right hand. Of course it caused a lot of problems but no one cared.

However, my family, friends & relatives admired my ability to "switch".

Yes I knew that. My mom was left handed as a child and my great grandmother made her only use her right hand.
