+1 yEh, maybe if China is actually listening in on us through the app, but I imagine the US wouldn't care unless a cold war is started between us.
02 Reply- +1 y
You can guarantee they are. The world powers have been fighting proxy wars since 1950s and TikTok is an obvious national security issue.
- +1 y
Also, cold war never ended.

+1 yNo, I don't trust the Chinese gov, but I don't trust the US gov to make wise decisions when it comes to banning things.
015 Reply- +1 y
Think about the Chinese government having access to your phone. And having the ability to influence your kids.
- +1 y
I mean whether or not you trust your government is one thing, but to trust the Chinese government? That's insane.
- +1 y
I don't have Tik Tok. It's not a utility I'm required to have. If the gov wants to ban gov officials from using it, that's different.
- +1 y
I said I don't, which is why I personally CHOOSE not to use Tik Tok
- +1 y
Ask yourself this, do you think China would ban American social media apps? And why would they if they did?
- +1 y
Yes, I think they would. China is a totalitarian country. They don't have free speech
- +1 y
How is banning a Chinese spy app stopping free speech?
- +1 y
Can I agree to let a foreign country search my private phone?
- +1 y
Not when national security is at risk.
- +1 y
Again if they want to ban TikTok from government phones or private phones of government workers who use their private phones for work, that’s acceptable. Getting data from a bunch of adolescents is not a national security threat
- +1 y
Yes it can, or are you a security expert?
- +1 y
Are you? You’re the one saying TikTok is a national security threat, but without evidence I may add
- +1 y
They are a security threat because it's a Chinese owned company and the CCP have complete power in China. The Chinese can easily tell Tik Tok to hand over data or tell them to create algorithms that support Chinese interest.
- +1 y
And that is “national security threat” how? They can see what kind of Stanley mugs teens own?
- +1 y
I'm done answer your stupid questions you bot.
+1 yAbsolutely fucking not. I'm not surprised you take the moronic stance.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yNo that goes against the first and second amendment
126 Reply- +1 y
How is that? Are you a constitutional lawyer?
Opinion Owner+1 yThe founding fathers said TikTok was an integral part of the US
- +1 y
Ah, a Chinese bot.
Opinion Owner+1 yI'm not Chinese I'm British
Opinion Owner+1 yThe First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws that: regulate an establishment of religion; prohibit the free exercise of religion; abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.
Opinion Owner+1 yTik tok is needed for freedom of press
- +1 y
In what world is Tik Tok considered press?
Opinion Owner+1 yThey are a platform for news, opinions, satire and other media
Opinion Owner+1 yMillions of Americans rely on it for news
- +1 y
Get out of here Chinese bot. You don't even know the definition of press.
- +1 y
are you one of those people who say the 2nd Amendment doesn't cover anything but muskets and single shot pistols?
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 let me ask you, do you understand what is considered as press?
- +1 y
this is not a press issue as much as a freedom of speech issue
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 How is it a freedom of speech issue. You keep saying this without proving it.
- +1 y
They are expressing the speech of their users. Banning it would be akin to banning a magazine that published user written editorials and user submitted articles and cartoons
- +1 y
Do you think the government can ban X (Twitter)
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 How would it be akin to banning a magazine? Do magazines gather data from you?
- +1 y
Don't ask me stupid questions. Actually support your poorly constructed argument.
- +1 y
If I freely allow an app to gather my info, it should me MY choice.
- +1 y
My argument is this: TikTok is an app that people are free to use or not to use. The f there is proof China is collecting user data, then either it’s fraud, which is a matter for the courts or it’s something the users accept. I don’t trust government control of social media. I’m not a socialist. I’m a free-market capitalist
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 It's a Chinese owned company. If the Chinese government demands the personal information gathered by Tik Tok, they can't say no.
- +1 y
And the users are free to decide to stay or not
- +1 y
How much power do you think the government should have over social media?
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 You keep switching up your argument. First it's against the first amendment then you're calling Tik Tok the press and trying to come up with complete nonsense. You're either a bot or just be argumentative to troll.
- +1 y
I’ve defended my argument. You cannot point to anything illegal TikTok has done. You just want the government to have more power. Your only argument is you don’t trust China. I don’t trust the US government. They’ve spied on their citizens. I don’t want them deciding for me what apps I can use. Why don’t you move to a country that controls social media like. China maybe
- +1 y
@OtterMan68 " They’ve spied on their citizens"
Yeah, you're not American.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yAbsolutely yes
It's toxic af and makes people dumb
00 ReplyYes, I think it should be banned everywhere.
020 Reply- +1 y
not surprising, you're Canadian.
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt it is for people who understand the importance of freedom of speech. For those who like to be slaves to their government I guess it's fine.
- +1 y
Yes, I am.
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt you're still there. And you're advocating in this reply that a government should ban a private company
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt My head is exactly where it needs to be. The US law is written so that the US government can shut down any website it deems to be "fake news". If you don't like tiktok, don't watch it.
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt I'm disturbed you so quickly would bend over to the government. As i said, not surprising for a Canadian.
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt I've yet to see American truckers get their accounts frozen because they say things the government doesn't like.
- +1 y
@AmyHew1tt I explained it very clearly. When you want your government to ban TikTok, you are no better than Trudeau freezing bank accounts. You either believe in freedom or you don't.
- +1 y
@gorydetails Be gone bot with your nonsense.
- +1 y
Gorydetails is a bot. It just spreads false information and then trolls when you call it out. It's pointless to argue with it.
- +1 y
@chefpapichulo you are such a Moron.
