Happy to say that I’ve never downloaded TikTok, and it’s disappointing that my whole generation uses it in spite of the popular knowledge of its origins and misuses. I don’t think it should have been created or used by Americans in the first place, but sadly it’s the most popular thing and likely will be for the next decade, like the Facebook for zoomers in terms of preferred social media platform. If I had any legal power, yes I would ban TikTok but come up with a better alternative that’s encrypted and generally less toxic.

No, there will always be some dumb shits that do, well, dumb shit. Before this there was the tide pod challenge. People that download and use it know that they're being tracked, same that people who download twitter, or instagram know the same thing is happening.

Censoring one program because it became massively more popular won't help anything, nor do the laws looking to ban tic toc mention it one time, rather they give biden and more fauci types war powers over us citizens.

There was a recent high profile case here in the uk involving a missing woman. Tik tokers flooded into the village, trampling though peoples property, even digging up areas just to post stuff. They got in the way of the police investigation.
I'm all for letting people have fun doing a stupid dance or shit but now it's more about invading peoples privacy. For example there's a few vids of people arguing over seats on trains. What gives these idiots the right to video it then post online?

I don't understand the appeal of "broadcasting yourself," or online "challenges" of any kind. I doubt any kind of ban would be effective. It amazes me how many middle and high schoolers have unmonitored app and internet access. I think the biggest concern with TikTok is security, but I don't know how much different the security concerns are than with other apps (other than: China). Let's face it, apps collect a lot of things they probably shouldn't.
