The key word is "could" as there is no direct evidence. Plus the US is laughable as it's been exposed as spying through it's various apps for years not only by Snowden.

Also, Tiktok China is a separate company from Tiktok anyway,

Tik tok is a serious bit of state controlled spyware. I have to agree with the fcc on this one. It's a dangerous app that should be banned.
