How do you feel about the current controversy about self checkout?

Target, Walmart, and Dollar General are now limiting how many items can be run at self-checkout. Walmart is also considering implementing a premium subscription to use them. What do you think about this? should it be time to phase out self checkout?

If they are doing this it means that they have detected a great number of thefts. I have been using self checkouts if I do not have to wait in a line to go through a register, I would not mind if they did away with self checkout as long as they have more than one checkout register opened.

Yeah, self-checkout can lead to more people possibly committing retail theft can't see why employees can't see this happening?

A premium subscription... to do their job for them? Shut up, Walmart. If they'd have more than 2 checkouts open on a Saturday afternoon, that would help. Most of the time people use self checkout so they don't have to stand in line forever.

People have to be licensed in a lot of stares to work check-out. Which is why they can't just pull random employees from the floor. They have to find more licensed folk to hire first.

Limiting? Since when? Mine aren't.
No. 3 min self check-out vs and hour and a half wait in line for human check-out. I would rather ditch shopping and pay for mass delivery.

I'm one of the few people that feel it's ok to steal a few items everytime I use self checkout. My defense is I never agreed to work work for wal-mart and I was poorly trained for the job so you can't be surprised when I make a few mistakes eachtime. This was a poor decision on management's part. And they should be held accountable for it.😆

Self xcheckout is nice when I have just few items and the store is very crowded.

I don't believe it. They started charging nine cents for plastic sack. So people brought their own reusable sacks. The self checkout is not intended for the benefit of the customer. Self check out is for the benefit of the company, so they can cut labor costs. If they charge a premium at self check out, customers will go back to waiting in the lines where there's a checker. the line will be 3 miles long, and the customers will demand a higher more checkers. So they will end up right where they started. 😂😂
