It can be , if you allow social media to consume your life and make it the center of your life , Social media was designed as a money making tool to brainwash people into buying things and believing in things , Things that shouldn’t really matter in your life. If you put your phone down and walk outside and look at the world around you , you will realize social media really means nothing because it is nothing it was designed to make you think it does. Do you really give a shit about what someone else is eating , or what someone else is wearing , or where someone else is going on vacation? Do you think everyone in this world is fit and in shape? Do you think every girl looks like a model? Do you think everyone cheats on each other? Put your phone down and walk into Walmart or whatever store you want and count how many people you see, that looks like a model? I guarantee you will maybe just see 1 or 2 if any. LOL social media is mainly garbage material that we are absorbing into our heads. Making most people think things are bigger that what it really is , making people think grass is greener on the other side instead of focusing on what they have right in front of them. I am not saying all social media is bad , but sadly a majority of it is if you allow it to consume your mind and your life. It was designed to target your interests , things that you enjoy looking at , it tracks everything you are into so marketers can try to get you to buy things , why I like coming on GAG , because it’s more of a social app to interact with people , But apps like Tik Tok and Instagram and Facebook are filled with advertisements trying to suck you In to make
Money. Trying to suck you in. Before social media was really even a thing , back in the day , Salesman would come knocking on your door trying to sell you expensive vacuum cleaners that were garage or other household tools etc. Social media eliminated that for the most part , keeping people locked up in there homes and not socializing with each other like it was before , if you go out in public most people are face planted on their phones not looking at the world around them , a bomb could drop and most people will try to video tape it instead of running for their lives , Look at me , look at me , it’s sadly ridiculous what this society has come to. If every single one of us put our phones down and stop wasting our time on social media , the world would be a much more happier place , but sadly most people
Can’t put their phones down for long periods of time.00 Reply

Definitely, it’s designed to cause dopamine addiction so you spend hours scrolling mindlessly while you get bombarded with adds. This also takes a huge hit to your ability to focus and it will make you uneasy when your trying to buckle down and study or do something that is less exciting. Your brain will literally be like nope this is not the stuff I want dopamine and then you will start craving social media, entertainment, sex, sugary food. It’s all linked to the same part of your brain as pleasure and never mind the part about seeing everyone else’s achievements while your stuck there unable to finish a book or do anything to move your life forward. It’s gotta go if you want to be effective towards your goals.

I've had it since MySpace came out as did a number of my friends. None of my issues were due to social media… If anything some things I see inspire me to work towards adventures. Also helps when I’m having a bad day and just see fucking puppies on my feed 😭
I grew up with magazines and tv. It was well known that all that Hollywood stuff was fake. I guess today for some reason people think everything they see is real. So maybe people should be more educated on that as well

I don’t think it’s inherently bad for mental health. It really depends on how you use it and your state of mind. If you approach it with maturity, recognize its limitations and the often unrealistic portrayals, it can be a great tool for connection. But without that maturity, or if it becomes a source of comparison or negativity, it can definitely take a toll on your mental health. So like with anything, it's about balance and self awareness.00 Reply

+1 yThe reason I like social media is that it's an open space where nobody is able to control you or micromanage you. I get that problem in a lot of my relationships and friendships where people I associate with try to control me because they think my ideas or system of methodology is wrong.
It's also insulting cause I consider myself more intelligent than the people who try to force their ideas on me, but I'm forced to listen cause they have more power than me in the relationship.

Itvis horrible for mental health and since kids do not get any exercise itvis bad for physical health too
00 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Nope, saved my life at a low point. So personal bias there.
But at the same time objectively it's just how people use it. It can be good or bad.
Also gotta love the hypocrites, it's bad 100% but I use them and use Gag lmao.00 Reply- 1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI deleted my social media couple months back. I wouldn’t say it was bad for me per se. I just found myself wasting a lot of time just scrolling without purpose.
00 Reply 5.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Overall I would say it is. People get addicted to it, they start having negative thoughts, some have suicidal thoughts and they feel isolated. They stop having real social interactions.
00 ReplyYes it is, people over use it all the time. People are meant to have social interaction in real life not the Internet. People stay home away from people physically and that is very damaging.
