What I don't like about social media, is that people depend on others' opinions on their photos, their daily life, and so on. There is no privacy, and many folks I'm sure will put out the happy pictures and not the other pictures where they are sad, going through life's strifes, and so on. They paint a happy picture of themselves and it looks kind of fake. Why would people want to do this?
To me, this shows a dependency of thinking how others feel about you. You shouldn't care, and you shouldn't spend hours on social media. It's bad for you and your mental health not to mention your physical health because you're sitting and inactive.
When you're bored you can get out, get fresh air, walk, do anything but hang around your house unless the weather is keeping you home.
Yes I agree with the above.
Yes, but this AI response is kind of dumb.
Cyberbullying and getting dragged into "inappropriate content" are two very different things, the latter of which is a discussion unto itself.
"Body Image" and "Self Confidence" are the same thing by its own description.
It completely leaves out the fact that not having actual social interactions in the real world in favor of "living online" is absolutely devastating, especially at younger ages.
Every study ever says so.

Yes. What is not mentioned is narcissism. Getting a lot of likes for an ordinary cup of coffee is going to persuade you that you are special eventually when you are just ordinary with ordinary coffee.
Girls tend to vulnerable narcissist and seek confirmation. Guys tend to be arrogant narcissist - if the shit stinks, something is wrong with your nose.
There are fairly long datasets on narcissism and there is has been a rapid rise in female narcissism as it built more from external factors.
There are negatives about just about anything your participate in. Because there are negative people all over. Sick people. Twisted and emotionally stunted people. Bullies, et al.
Disengage. Don't let strangers' comments get you down. Find sites where people are mostly pleasant and helpful. Ignore the stupid.
Yep I remember a girl that was herea good while back, she was always in a bad mood basically had all the issues above, I gave her the advice to take a break from social media and do everyday things and eventually she did, them she left and after a while came back saying she was in a much better state of mind and everything and she disappeared again, I would imagine and hope she's enjoying life now 👏🏼
I think using social media is more a symptom of bad mental health than a cause of it.
People turn to social media when they don't have enough healthy social interaction in real life.
Then they begin to rely on social media and just get worse and worse because they're not having that real interaction so they get more and more isolated and lonely.
Human beings are social creatures and they are made to interact in person not on the internet.
No and yes it’s going to push stuff that is bad but you can look for stuff that’s good for example most of what I see on instagram is what my friends/mutuals post and gym and other things I enjoy and ofc every so often I get and only fans ad (I’ve tried everything I possibly can to not see them but instagram always pushed them out to me because they are sponsored it’s annoying)
Social media is dangerous for people without any other social contacts and for people with mental instability. But for those people is everything dangerous and they are prone to any kind addiction.
Absolutely, I mean why wouldn't it be.. It's mostly just people showing off acting like they have better life than they really do.. And unfortunately mixed in with the fact that people can be envious creatures, so that is the result..
Yes. But the news is worse. Wants to keep you in a state of division and low frequency energy, ie fear. Plus how they seek to control narratives and stifle debate.
Social media is like any place that people congregate. It's only as harmful as how susceptible someone is & relative to what they surround themselves with.
Yeah but in small doses and IF you're doing it as it was intended (the algorithms are fikin it up) then keeping in touch and catching up with distant relationships of all sorts can be a good thing.
It depends upon how you use Social Media, and if you accept what you see without question.
Personally I mainly use Social Media to stay in contact with family that are scattered around the planet.
Yes social media is one of the worst things for young minds. Even this app is terrible for my sleeping time lol.
I don’t take social media seriously. Just to waste my free time.
It's not always, but it certainly can be. I think for a lot of people it is.
We don’t even need to go into detail to know why because we KNOW it is
I do indeed think that, just have no idea how it will ever get stopped.
So you got the answer to your question and decided to ask anyway?
Lol you proved her right.
Why are you trying to start something?
We both proved her right then. Have a nice day.
I do... the harm social media creates seems be pretty well established at this point.
Sexy anonymous I already knew that that is obvious of course it can be bad for you it ain't going to be good in the hood for you
It is if you believe all the shit you read, can't think critically, and don't know what a "reputable and credible source" really is.
It's literally nothing good about it except keeping in touch with your friends
You can do that with text messages, car drive, a plane flight or phone call.
You don’t need social media for it
Water if drank too much is bad for your health and can kill you.
Social media can certainly be bad for one's mental health if abused being on it 24/7.
It can be for different reasons and it also depends on the person , especially ones insecure about their looks and compare themselves to others , and the others spend their whole life on it
I think social media is definitely bad for you. Especially before a certain age.
I don't think it is, but it depends on the content you consume.
Yes, especially for children. It's too much communication and contact to an adult world.
Only if they're already soft like cookie dough. You should not be on social media unless you're mentally healthy or unless you got a thick skin.
I deactivated as I’m going through substance addiction treatment. Facebook will only make it worse for me!
Yes social media could be harmful for those reasons.
It is best to cut back from social media and only use it for good not for bad.
Spending so much time on social media is bad!
Use it in a moderate way
It can be, especially children's and adolescents'.
I think so. Especially if you have before you have Social Media.
No, social media is not the cause of declining mental health in America. A person has a choice whether to be depressed or well. It is up to you my friends.
Yes, I have had depression twice and anxiety multiple times and I delete all my social media and it eventually makes me feel better.
Computer screens are unhealthy to look at. They turn your brain saggy after 20 minutes.
well yeah. it's well known to anyone with a brain
For vulnerable people, yes.
can't disagree with cold hard facts.
Yes I do. So is texting.
bad girls' world
Yes, I believe so.
