Policy in this state is not to pursue unless life is in danger. That means criminals are having the time of their lives... in this case...50+-100 cars vandalized... they just drove off... police did not chase.

To pursue, you must put in place power that protects the police. That will not happen under Biden and democrats.

Trump is running for President, not god-emperor. The President- Trump, Biden, or otherwise- has absolutely no authority over local (or state) law enforcement. The tenth Amendment clearly specifies as much.

If wanton disregard of the Constitution is what you're after, you've no need of Trump; Biden's your man.

It’s not about protecting the police, it’s about the balance of safety. If someone wants to run over a traffic ticket, is it really beneficial to go on a chase or just get the plate and send a ticket in the mail?

But criminals destroying property to the tune of 40+ cars... cops see it, and they cannot pursue. That's broken system.

In my state it's extremely uncpmmon. We are a constitutional carry state, and the majority of citizens are armed. Not only do police do their jobs here, they are applauded for it.

true, but force of change come from the top... in promoting police, enforcement of law. they have deep pockets and have put more police on streets before. that is not what current govt wants, things are working as they like (e. g. forced social redistribution... theft... is the policy).

The no-pursuit laws are designed to avoid high-speed chases that put people's lives in danger but involve lesser crimes. Not being familiar with the area where the perpetrators sped off to, I can't evaluate the police decision. Burglary is a low priority crime as far as cops are concerned, so this isn't a great example.

That's a silly comment, dude. Only 3 states have no chase car laws, CT, CA, AZ. AZ is swing state, so 2 Dem states have it. 13 states have no chase motorcycle laws, including IN, IA, NE, TX, TX, LA - all of which are red states. Sorry, but there goes your theory on motorcycles. Yes, burglary is a low priority crime. You only have so much investigative power. That's how it is. Even in red states, appropriations bills for more police get voted down. Towns have trouble recruiting for officers in all states. Don't make this a Dem/Repub thing when it isn't.

I agree with your point on recruitment and staff... the reason for the recruit issue is the shift in power.. e. g. it isn't worth the risk of doing the job. It has to be reset from the top, but then trickle down... imho.
reality is... it won't, society cannot handle another george floyd, and so we slide the direction we are going. Plenty of people want police to enforce laws... but they have to be protected doing their job. they won't. so that's that.
In summary... you have to defend your property and in some ways, that is not possible.

It doesn't matter who is president. This is a state and local issue. The president should never get involved in this sort of thing. He doesn't have the authority or power to do it even if he wanted to.
