I can see your concern though I think it was mostly phrased badly.

The context has been Palestinians and the Left have been rioting and there were public celebrations of October 7th. A jewish person was abducted and tortured into giving the password of his phone to his capturers. They seemed to want his contact list.

Most recently there was a schizo guy who stabbed a lot of people at a shopping killing - about 7 dead. It was in area with a lot of Jewish people. Hard to say why he did this because a policegirl shot him dead as soon as she could..

Now this 15 yo tries to stab a bishop and it is acknowledged to have been a hate crime. Initially there was misinformation with a claim the congregation had cut the boys fingers off and one of the men apprehending him had jeans covered in blood... with the implication the blood was from severed fingers.

What appears to be the case is that the boy didn't open the pocket knife so it locked and the blade folded back cutting his fingers perhaps off, perhaps not.

I think the NSW Police are afraid of claims the congregation cut the boys fingers off will spark something worse. In the past there was a major NSW riot between muslims and white guys as to who owned a beach.

So the NSW Police are saying to not believe the scuttlebutt on social media and the police will publish what is happening and are doing more patrols to keep the general public safe.

It doesn't have the implications you are taking.

On the Australian Federal Gov't seeking to be able to rule on what are truthful statements and what aren't is certainly of high concern and is what worries me..

Well they have already disarmed their population so I don't think they're up to anything benevolent.

I agree that it could be a PR nightmare but the way they phrased that was just so Orwellian. If they weren't aware of it then they have bad public relations skills.

I think it was more tone deaf PR and probably frustration with people saying stuff like the congregation cut the boys fingers off. Which I would not have had much quarrel with that seeing he plays with knives and tries to kill.

The woman appears to be the first female head of NSW Police. Unfortunately women come off as shrill. They should have got the deputy commissioner to deliver the message as a man would have said it in a more sober measured reassuring way. :)

I am in the state of Victoria, not the state of New South Wales, I would like to make clear.

On disarming we just have too many goddamn nutters on the street is the way we look at it. The schizo at the shopping centre killed 7 with just a knife. If he had a gun it would have been a lot worse.

I was on a nutters list recently at #10 down (which is a bit of an ego hit). All I did was say hello to him when I passed by him. So I am pro 'no guns for nutters'.

Yeah if you guys had guns you could stop the assailant as well. Guns will also give elderly women and also people who are physically incompetent a fighting chance against an attacker.

And judging by how Australia has been acting, I don't think I'm going to give that Police department the benefit of the doubt.

We'll just have to accept accept we have different gun cultures I think. There came a point we were getting quite frequent mass shootings. It was hotly debated at the time but we decided to restrict ownership of automatic and semi-automatic guns. If you want to hunt or do sporting shooting it is no big deal.

Hand guns have never been that common among us and there has never been a culture of carrying one for self defense..

The main purpose of firearms is to protect you against a tyrannical government in my opinion.

That reaches back into your history in a couple of ways it just doesn't in ours. You had a Revolution whilst we had the Ashes - a cricket match to establish independence from England instead

You had the French Indian wars, Indian wars and Mexican wars which we have no equivalents of.

Yet at say time I think we have a more robust confidence in our democracy than you do in your republic.

It is very funny our Prime Minister Albanese ('Soft Cock' as we affectionately call him) , is attempting to censor the internet world because he doesn't like the stabbing of the bishop circulating. Odds on the 15 yo boy is muslim.

Elon Musk has rightly declined to.

      This is quite serious.

Soft Cock wants to legislate against "misinformation" i. e. have a gov't body to decide what is misinformation - that is censor thought. Australia voted down his recent referendum, on another matter, by 70% so I don't think he will succeed in his leftist pipe dream.

Given how much freedoms Australians have already given up (guns) I don't really have a lot of optimism.

Given what Soft Cock Albanese has been impotently whining about Elon Musk, I have to say YOU ARE RIGHT. Fortunately though he has been immolating himself.

From a 2022 election win with a margin of over 8%, Albanese has pushed the opposition into a position they can win from in 2025. The Opposition Leader is now the preferred PM. That very seldom happens.

His woke referendum in 2023 got humiliatingly voted down by 70% of Australians. Even the people who voted for him at the election voted against his referendum.

Nobody is happy with him doubling immigration and causing sky rocketing rentals.

His attack on Elon Musk and pretending he can censor a video over the entire world is FITH grandiose delusion. He will have a hard time convincing anyone citizens should not know about race hate crimes. His misinformation bill is going to go down after this.

It has all the hallmarks of his woke referendum being voted down by a super-majority. As Ireland recently voted their woke referendum.

There is a lot of value in woke left over reach being emphatically voted down at the ballot box. I'm looking foward to shutting them the fuck up.

Hopefully it will a lesson to the Global Woke. The left gnashing their teeth is the sweetest of all music.

It was very, very bad. NEVER let the government be at all comfortable being the only source of information. The fact that she was so confident about that is a very bad sign.

Ehh i think you’re looking for a 1984 reference. NZ isn’t a radical fascist state. So that cheif of police just said a whacked line she shouldn’t have. No biggie.

No, this is Australia, a place were importing a game is a crime if Australia’s age rating board has refused to give the game a rating. They are weird. Would be scary if it was someplace with more common sense.
