The version that I read said "When you are dead, you don't know you are dead. It's only difficult for others. It's the same with being stupid."

From my experience, it's true. Stupid (or ignorant) people don't know that they are stupid or ignorant. And it doesn't help to point out their flawed beliefs. I see it all the time on GAG.

Another quote is, "The more you know, the more you know how much you don't know." Stupid people think they already know everything and they willfully ignore anything that doesn't support what they already believe.
