No I don't buy that , but sure there are groups of people that are the same way and you are either in or out, like them or not. Had I listened to my ex friend to stay with my crazy ex just because she could not imagine I was telling the truth I don't know how it would have ended. I know someone else who made the mistake of going to her for support about something serious and she failed that test big time. She always thought she knew everything with her limited view and that made her stupid. I was so close staying and getting weaker by the minute with him, as my social life then too existed of a group of girls with their guys. I didn't have anyone in that group as they too, the guys, were friends with him. That's dangerous too. I think most try to work it out with their partner but when not understood, supported they ask for others advice. After that it is always up to yourself if to listen or not, the decision is not based on someone elses advice, if it was it could be you are vulnerable and more easy to manipulate, but in time you will come out of this state, or well, hopefully. I can not prove it, but I suspect my ex (who I think got bipolar like his parent before him) changed, got into this jealous psychosis, finally, and during he pretty much left the good gang he had of his guys friends, and was drawn into this group that I suspect were into hating, having a complex relationship with girls. This because it suited his narrative at the time. That may have only made it worse but u know it wasn't them that made him like that, he already was, it was his pull, that change was already in him or else he wouldn't have been drawn into that direction. There was so much when I look back that I couldn't understand before about his jealousy, how he acted that now I do. Could be this new we hate women group of his wanted him to beat me up or what ever, I remember one time he was threatening in posture etc but our eyes clicked and I knew he had a protective instinct of me before and he must have remembered and he backed off. You are always yourself responsible in the end, not your friends. You chose who you want to listen to. That is not to say those who give advice are not responsible for the advice they give.

To a certain degree, she’s correct. Through total isolation, a woman would lean almost exclusively on her husband for all of her social needs and she would never really feel comfortable breaking up with him. In reality, though, this community of womanhood is essential to not just fulfilling social needs but also building each other up. It can be hard to admit that you’ve invested time and energy into the wrong person, and so the opinions of those who see your partner from the outside can provide some perspective to help you realize that and act on it for your personal happiness. Having support in that decision can make all the difference.

I think it's a little simplistic, and this might be a little more complex than the initial statement suggests, but it isn't by any means inaccurate.

Women seem to value the opinions of their female friends highly, and sometimes those opinions can be self-serving or, frankly, malicious. Yet many women will follow them without too much difficulty. They are also very sensitive to the idea that their girlfriends may disapprove of their decisions and therefore tend to go along with what their girlfriends tell them, even though it may not be the best thing for them or their partners.
