He was beheaded by the King because of his love for God. Very cruel.

Within this text, More utilizes rhetorical devices such as identification, irony, analogy, rhetorical question, and diction to identify, educate, and stress the significance of addressing human affairs during the Renaissance.🌹

Through the use of identification, myth, irony, and imagination, More suggests ways that European society could overall improve. Utopian fiction has played a pivotal role in rhetoric in three major ways. It examines ideals about an equalized society, demonstrates symbolic communication, and focuses on problems in the present and how we can positively impact the state of human affairs."~SecretWriter

And no I don't. Some people's utopia could be a dystopia for others. Utopias can’t exist because of the second law of thermodynamics: everything tends to fall apart. Entropy rules. Order always leans toward chaos.

Those things which do persist and work in harmony — like universes and living bodies — do so only because an extraordinary power holds them together. Even in these cases, entropy gradually and inevitably pulls them apart.

So far, the only way we know to hold together a society of human beings is through tyranny, oligarchy, socialism, republicanism, democracy, communism. . . . you get the picture. Societies are held together only through force applied from a ruling power.

You can’t have a utopia if its society must be ruled. This means some people must play an inferior role to a ruling throne. This ruling class inevitably has to exert unpleasant force to hold things together — to prevent entropy.

Thus the society must be a dystopia for those who are ruled.

For a utopia to work, every person in it would have to think the same thoughts at exactly the same time and move at exactly the same time — like a bees in a beehive or fish in a school of fish.

But human beings range from wise to crazy, peaceful to violent, content to greedy, logical to illogical, smart to dumb, and most important, from well fed to hungry. They aren’t going to think alike. They must be forced to live and work together in relative peace and harmony.

Well, the word Utopia already gives the answer according its definition: a perfect place where everything is perfect... Let's face the truth that, although there is a minority of people really willing to help change our very messy and violent societies into a better place to live in, the majority only want to take advantage of others in one or another way without caring about the harm done or the collateral damages.

Money and power seem to motivate most idiots, but actually basically only power, because money can be a way to get power...

A real utopy indeed would be believing a dictator, or actually any other powerful leader, to really care about the well-being of society and citizens.

The odd part in all this is how some originally sincere idealists turn into terrorism. Let's still keep a little hope, because without hope, how can we live? Maybe that's why so many among us flee away out of reality into imaginary worlds. Sure enough, for people only willing make the best out of their life, the best is living with compromises.

No because humans are incredibly flawed. You mention Sir Thomas More, however at the time society was very messed up with Religion and who held the power and where it resided.

If you think of the present day and sending a group of people to a distantly inhabitable planet, ready made for human life, the baggage and bigotry humans would take, religion, racism, homophobia etc.

What are the real chances of ever combating those?

Taking religion on its own, the amount of incompatibility between religions, even within the Christian faith, Catholics v Protestants, then throw in orthodoxy and Mormons, all that without even mentioning another faith.

We can't wait for God or our day of passing to experience Heaven. It is up to us in the here and now to create Heaven. We are all currently in the Garden of Eden. Ultimately we are living in Utopia today and ability to create a better Utopia tomorrow.

Different people have different views on what is ideal. Therefore, if you please one person, you piss off another person. People are flawed and when things don't go their way, they tend to get jealous, violent, etc. The more people you cram together with one another, the more exaggerated that problem gets.

Utopia cannot exist because people have too many ideas what it should comprise. That was the fundamental error in The Matrix.  Free choice.  It inevitably ruins the Utopia equation. Bad times, where people have lots of hope, is much closer to Utopia than Orwell and Huxley. You have experienced some of that and you always came off as having lots of hope. Life was better than you thought.

The closest you can get is a small commune of homogeneous people voluntarily working together. People who share the same spiritual, political, and social beliefs and are as self-sufficient as possible.

On a large scale, it's impossible given human nature.

I take the view that a perfect society can't exist until people learn to respect each other. So probably never. Everyone has their own idea of what is the perfect society and they're not all compatible.
