Do you believe in the American Dream that we are headed to a brighter future? Or do you have the feeling that it may collapse into a nightmare?

before you were born it was going the wrong direction. I think it's too far gone to save our kids standard of living... e. g they will live at a lower level than we did.
my father raised 4 kids on big property with one salary and high school degree. That is not possible now without govt theft.
Where it go wrong... Bush II, Obama was a disaster. they went the wrong direction and excessively. Gong off the gold reserve was the big "it's over" moment. Wars are expensive... maintaining the order is expensive. we're the worlds super power... and we pay via inflation. Every country that had the worlds printing press and navy... has lost it after some time. We are in that process of decline.
The problem is greed and selfishness, laziness, we got fat and rich. we lost our way. for my generation, I apologize... we were party to screwing it up.
I grew my "victory garden" this year... and got a load of sweet potatoes to share.
You never know... maybe there's miracles. But how do you deal with a 35Trillion debt? Historically, you inflate it away via wars, massive death and destruction and dispose of it. Sometimes productivity boosts overatke and take us to new heights. Maybe AI and quantum computers and medicine will do that. but will you be able to afford it:)?
There is always hope though... it's not the end of it though. For the "obese and lazy can get trim and in shape again... if they so have goals!
For people your age. I really hope that the future is a whole lot brighter, more peaceful and much better than it is now! Keep your fingers crossed!🤞
@Kelley1. I was thinking about the world when I was your age and younger. I graduated from high school and a tech school. I went a half day to each. Got a great job that paid $4.59 per hour. Was adding to a savings account in leaps and bounds.
You could go away and not lock your house. Businesses were closed on Sundays. Gas was an outrageous 50 cents a gallon. Stores sold local produce. Everyone was happy. A handshake was more binding than a contract.
Unfortunately, there isn’t another continent to go to! I would think that starting a community in the middle of nowhere with people who would raise their own food and know how to make clothes and make their own herbal medicine. Maybe in Alaska. Would be a great place to live.

I'm really sorry but the so-called American dream was always a scam to begin with and what was left of it, which wasn't much has collapsed completely. You cannot buy a house in this country that is in a decent area for less than about $750,000 or greater. If you make enough money to qualify for a loan for such a house, you are going to go into major debt for the majority of your life and never get much back. Jobs in the United States pay below a living wage and certainly below a wage that would enable you to buy such a house. There is no American dream anymore. There are only large corporations and a few rich people and major exploitation.
Welcome to capitalism your worst nightmare.
It's not a question of if we'll hit the iceburg, at least with our economy, it's a matter of if it'll be at 40mph, or 140mph. But it doesn't matter who gets in, if they don't have a debt jubilee of some kind, we're doomed in a catastrophic way.
Asset prices will keep inflating.
The American dream has been lost for decades.
Only people born into financially successful families have a greater opportunity of maintaining the American dream.
Most people at the bottom are going to stay at the bottom permanently.
Depends on who gets elected, if Kamala is elected America is going straight down the tube's. If you thought inflation and gas prices were bad either Biden they'll double possibly triple under Kamala's guiding hand.
I still believe in the American dream, but it is much much muchhh more difficult now.
The original meaning came as is. It didn't need no propping up or fine tuning.
The American dream died decades ago
Ask me this same question in 75 days.
I think we're going backwards, honestly
