And finance it by my speeding tickets…. uhg
1. To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to their repression by military force and severity of legal punishment.
2. To recognise always that the power of the police to fulfil their functions and duties is dependent on public approval of their existence, actions and behaviour, and on their ability to secure and maintain public respect.
3. To recognise always that to secure and maintain the respect and approval of the public means also the securing of the willing co-operation of the public in the task of securing observance of laws.
4. To recognise always that the extent to which the co-operation of the public can be secured diminishes proportionately the necessity of the use of physical force and compulsion for achieving police objectives.
5. To seek and preserve public favour, not by pandering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolutely impartial service to law, in complete independence of policy, and without regard to the justice or injustice of the substance of individual laws, by ready offering of individual service and friendship to all members of the public without regard to their wealth or social standing, by ready exercise of courtesy and friendly good humour, and by ready offering of individual sacrifice in protecting and preserving life.
6. To use physical force only when the exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient to obtain public co-operation to an extent necessary to secure observance of law or to restore order, and to use only the minimum degree of physical force which is necessary on any particular occasion for achieving a police objective.
7. To maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.
8. To recognise always the need for strict adherence to police-executive functions, and to refrain from even seeming to usurp the powers of the judiciary of avenging individuals or the State, and of authoritatively judging guilt and punishing the guilty.
9. To recognise always that the test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, and not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with them.

Now, Odd, you are damaging the planet by driving a vehicle. It's time for you to start riding a bicycle. Your speeding problems will quickly go away and you will meet the approval of your Marxist colleagues.

Cops have a monopoly on violence. They should be vetted and educated for YEARS before being in the field. Not 6 mos training and a GED diploma like here in usa
Some: protect and serve 75%
Some: make money for their town 15%
Some: use their badge to bully people and make themselves feel big 10%
The police are a tool for marginalizing people who challenge the status quo. Sure, they’re used predominantly against the poor, but not exclusively. We have other tools to use against the wealthy disobedient.
No, they're here to straighten out people like you prick
You will soon be calling them a lot more with the hot weather coming and the illegals become active. We are about to see a crime wave that has never been seen before and the now defunded Police take hours and days to get around to answer then because of not enough cops. The people who wanted to defund the Police will now see how well their defunding works for the criminal not us.
Legally speaking, cops are the enforcers of the government.
Unlike the enforcers of gangs, they are subject to scrutiny, but unionised.
i feel justified if a cop ever laid a hand on me to defend myself. the law might call that assault, but i didn't initiate it. so who's to blame?
cops are so you can call... wen a crime, to hav hope... n they do nothing n close the case! due to democrat too soft on crime. vote republican! for your good.
Cops where created as the first stage of enforcing the law, but also to manage the undesirables in a community so everyone doesn't have to get their hands dirty.
They are reluctant to make routine traffic stops, especially for illegally dark window tint because thugs carry illegal guns. Gun laws won't prevent that.
Bascially, yes, because since they were formed to police slaves, it's been one of their chief duties.
No they are here to enforce the law. If there are laws against vagrancy then I guess you will get arrested. If you rob a liquor store you will also get arrested.
No. Just stay out the way and mind your business in life and the cops shouldn't bother you though some of them can be full of ish.
They are there because without them you could get five guys together with weapons and go house to house, killing families and taking their stuff.
And your classism is disgusting.
I thought you commies loved money going to the government.
In my city , us cops did "fire brigade" law enforcement. That is we were swamped with calls and could barely hold back the tide.
The ones that don't "get it"
Of course. Just like lotteries and payday loan businesses.
Maintain the status Quo
