I’m with @siri137 on this one.
people need to be able to read, write and do arithmetic (don’t need to fully understand maths), however they should be able to do stuff that allows them to work out interest rates, interest on loans etc.

Knowing how to read, write and count. So many adults apparently can't do any of those, which makes me wonder how the hell they were allowed to complete school.

hard to pick just one: laundry, changing a car tire, jump-starting a dead battery, cooking. I guess if budgeting is a skill, that would be the most important.
