True on both counts. "Jew" is a religious category, and to a much lesser extent, an ethnic one; "Semite" is a linguistic category, which has nothing to do with religion or ethnicity.

Relatively few Jews are Semites, and a vanishingly small percentage of Semites are Jews.

Very true. Likewise, you are not necessarily pro-Israel if you defend Jewish people. The policies of a government often don't reflect the views of the general population.
