Obviously most here instinctively would say after watching that the gunman was the bad guy. But this is the absurdist argument we hear from the right wing about invading hordes and caravans. And the right for every sadist to own a firearm.

This scene is a ‘reductio ad absurdum’ horror scene that shows the absurdist stupidity that having a gun makes you superior. And your beliefs superior.

With a nod toward Holocaust By Bullets…which is sorely lacking in textbooks. Because scenes like this definitely happened in 1941.

I think you miss the entire point of that scene. The scene has nothing to do with the ownership of a rifle. The presence of the AR-15 adds to the tension as there is a power imbalance but is NOT the point at all. The point is the fracturing of American society to the point where “…what kind of American are you?” is the transition into terror. A dozen other characters in that movie have AR-15s and are not frightening.


It’s the human mind being that detached from its humanity that is terrifying. Not the weapon. There are countless acts of genocide and ethic cleansing which have occurred in human history and many of them did not use rifles as their primary instrument.


Secondly, there is absolutely nothing about that man that even A/ implies he is a “Trumper” (in fact, there is not a single current or real life politician in the entire movie) or B/ even aligns with the values of anybody who would ever consider themselves a patriotic American.


The writers of that movie, Civil War, very purposefully and intentionally left all indications of political leanings out of the movie. (This was why they said they created an alliance between Texas and California since they are the most politically opposite states.) The movie was not to analyze either political party as the potential “bad guys” but to look at us introspectively as Americans and ask us to self-asses our own views and passions.


You should watch it again with fresh eyes.

So wanting secure borders is the same thing as wanting to kill people? That’s quite a leap. Despite your clear dislike for “the right” (whatever that is to you) you cannot possibly believe people who want that equate to people wanting to commit genocide.

To play along with your game, nobody could ever equate immigrants wanting to move to a better country with the kind of evil that kills people but the baited question is so extreme it’s not even worth taking seriously.

I’m not pretending anything. Unlike you, I actually know militia members. They aren’t affiliated with any political party and they don’t vote. They’re all strict Constitutionalists. Truth is Hollywood sells more guns than the NRA.

We saw what these liberal elites did with just a tiny group of illegals when they arrived in Martha's vineyard. Once they were done Instagraming bringing water bottles to the local church they had armed guards evict them. They had to sleep in the church basement, they couldn't find rooms and beds for 50 illegals in an area that had thousands of empty rooms and houses.
