Does anyone really believe that given our current economic system our problems will ever be solved?

The capitalist system, defaced by corruption, is the source of almost all political problems in this US today. Republicans believe in almost everything for a few, and nearly nothing for the many. Democrats believe in more things for all. Republicans constantly fight this, calling it "socialism" or "communism" without being willing or able to articulate the difference, thus taking advantage of the historically bad reputation of communism, and ignoring the more recent good reputation of democratic socialism. This constant fight is the source of most problems in the US, along with racism, another characteristic of Republicans, who want free labor, ie., slaves, but perversely don't want immigrants.

What are we to do?

On average, it's been getting better and better over the decades. The number of people today is far less than it was 60 years ago. South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world in 1960. Today it's one of the wealthiest. Or consider this: half the population owns a mobile phone.

Considering that the government gives away mobile phones, I don't think that's a good measure of anything.

"The government?" Half the people in the world have mobile phones. The number of people living in poverty is far smaller.

It's all about control. The time is coming when AI and automation will replace most jobs. What's coming isn't communism, capitalism, facism, socialism or whatever as those are ideologies from the last century. This will be neo-feudalism or oligarchy 2.0.

For the last 50 years we have had useless social programs that were implemented to help people and ended up doing the opposite. Democrats have created a whole underclass of welfare recipients who will vote democrats because they promise more benefits. The answer has been staring us in the face but of course it will never happen. There should be term limits.

If people did not create businesses there would be no jobs for everyone else. The government does not create wealth. The Government is funded by the organizations that do.
